for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>B<\/strong>rackets (the parts of expression inside brackets and always come first).<\/li>\n<li><strong>O<\/strong>rders (numbers involving powers or square roots).<\/li>\n<li><strong>D<\/strong>ivision.<\/li>\n<li><strong>M<\/strong>ultiplication.<\/li>\n<li><strong>A<\/strong>ddition.<\/li>\n<li><strong>S<\/strong>ubtraction.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In certain regions, PEMDAS (Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, and Subtraction) is employed, which is also the synonym of BODMAS.<\/p>\n<p>It explains the order of operations to be performed while solving an expression. According to the BODMAS rule, if an expression contains brackets ((), {}, []) we have first to solve or simplify the bracket followed by \u201c<strong>O<\/strong>rders\u201d (numbers involving powers or square roots)., then division, multiplication, addition and subtraction from left to right. We can remove brackets from an expression by using multiplication. We use multiplication over addition or subtraction. Generally, it can be written as:<\/p>\n<p>x (y + z) = xy + xz<\/p>\n<p>Notes: The order of brackets that can be simplified is (), {}, [].<\/p>\n<p><strong>Example 2:<\/strong> Expand and simplify<\/p>\n<p>9 (5+3)<\/p>\n<p>11 (2x + 3)<\/p>\n<p>Solution:<\/p>\n<p>(i) The terms inside the bracket are called like terms. We can solve this by two methods.<\/p>\n<p>Method 1: Add the terms inside the bracket and multiply the number outside the bracket with the sum of the numbers inside the bracket.<\/p>\n<p>9 (5 + 3) = 9 * 8 = 72<\/p>\n<p>Method 2: Multiply the outside terms with each number inside the bracket and add the products.<\/p>\n<p>9 (5 + 3) = (9 * 5) + (9 * 3)= 45 + 27 = 72<\/p>\n<p>(ii) Here the terms are unlike terms. Then do the multiplication, 7 \u00d7 4 = 28.<\/p>\n<p>Your calculation is now 3 + 28.<\/p>\n<p>Complete the operation to find the answer, <strong>31<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"western\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Addition_and_Subtraction\"><\/span><strong>Addition and Subtraction<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The final step is to solve <em>addition<\/em> or <em>subtraction<\/em>. Again, subtraction and addition rank equally, and you simply work from left to right.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"western\">Example:<\/h4>\n<p><strong>4 + 6 \u2212 7 + 3 = _?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You start on the left and work your way across.<\/p>\n<p>4 + 6 = 10<br \/>\n10 \u2212 7 = 3<br \/>\n3 + 3 = 6<br \/>\nThe answer is <strong>6<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"western\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Bringing_It_All_Together\"><\/span><strong>Bringing It All Together<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>This final example includes all elements of BODMAS.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"western\">Example:<\/h4>\n<p><strong>4 + 8<\/strong><strong><sup>2<\/sup><\/strong><strong> \u00d7 (30 \u00f7 5) = _?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Start with the calculation inside the brackets.<\/p>\n<p>30 \u00f7 5 = 6<br \/>\nThis gives you 4 + 8<sup>2<\/sup> \u00d7 6 = _?<\/p>\n<p>Then calculate the orders &#8211; in this case, the square of 8.<\/p>\n<p>8<sup>2<\/sup> = 64<br \/>\nYour answer is now 4 + 64 \u00d7 6<\/p>\n<p>Then move to the multiplication 64 \u00d7 6 = 384<\/p>\n<p>Finally perform the addition. 4 + 384 = 388<\/p>\n<p>The answer is <strong>388<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In this blog, we discussed\u00a0 Tips to Solve <a href=\"https:\/\/entri.app\/blog\/kerala-psc-important-bodmas-questions\/\">BODMAS <\/a>Questions.
