The List of Fundamental Rights is important for all competitive examination.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=me.entri.entrime&amp;referrer=utm_source%3DBlog%26utm_medium%3DEXAM-Listoffundamentalrights--BLOG%26utm_term%3DBLOGTEXT%26utm_campaign%3DRahul\" target=\"_blank\">Get Free Competitive Exam Preparation GK Mock Tests Today<\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Indian Constitution \u2013 List of Fundamental Rights<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Part III of the Indian Constitution covers the Fundamental rights of the people of India guaranteed by<br \/>\nthe constitution.<br \/>\nPart III has been called as the Magna Carta of India Constitution, Cornerstone of the Constitution by<br \/>\nvarious scholars.<br \/>\nPart III coupled with part IV (Directive principles of the state policy) has been termed as the<br \/>\nthe conscience of the constitution.<br \/>\nLet us have a look at the various fundamental rights in Indian Constitution for SSC CPO syllabus.<br \/>\nFundamental rights are classified into 6 types<\/p>\n<h3>1) <strong>Right to Equality (Article 14-18)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Article 14 (Equality before law)<\/strong> \u2013 no person will be denied equality or equal protection before<br \/>\nthe law. This concept has been taken from the USA constitution. Exceptions to equality before<br \/>\nthe law are, the president of India, state governors, public servants, Judges, foreign<br \/>\ndiplomats, etc who enjoy special privileges, immunities, and protections.<br \/>\n<strong>Article 15 (Prohibition of discrimination)<\/strong> \u2013 The State shall not discriminate only on the grounds<br \/>\nof religion, race, caste, sex or place of birth. A state can make special provisions for Women,<br \/>\nChildren, Socially and Educationally backward group if citizens.<br \/>\n<strong>Article 16 (Equality of opportunity in public employment)<\/strong> \u2013 No person shall be discriminated<br \/>\nagainst or denied any office or employment under the state on grounds of only religion, race,<br \/>\ncaste, sex, descent, place of birth or residence. Exceptions are State can provide reservation<br \/>\nof seats in employment for any backward classes, or appointment of any religious post under<br \/>\nthe state for candidates from particular religions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Article 17<\/strong> (<strong>Abolition of Untouchability )- <\/strong>Article 17 abolishes Untouchability and forbids its practice in any form. Untouchability refers to a social practice that looks down upon certain oppressed classes solely on account of their birth and makes any discrimination against them on this ground.<br \/>\n<strong>Article 18 (Abolition of Titles)<\/strong> \u2013 State cannot confer any title on any individual (citizen or<br \/>\nforeigner), except military or educational. The Bharat Ratna and Padma awards are not titles<br \/>\nas per this article.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>2) Right to Freedom (Articles 19-22)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>\u2022 <strong>Article 19 (Protection of certain rights)<\/strong> \u2013 Citizens shall have the following rights with<br \/>\nreasonable restrictions \u2013<br \/>\nTo freedom of speech and expression.<br \/>\nTo assemble peacefully and without arms.<br \/>\nTo form associations or unions.<br \/>\nTo move freely throughout the territory of India.<br \/>\nTo practice any profession or to carry on any occupation, trade or business.<br \/>\n\u2022 <strong>Article 20 (Protection in respect of conviction for offences)<\/strong> \u2013 It grants protection against<br \/>\nexcessive and arbitrary punishment to an accused person (citizen or foreigner). It has 3<br \/>\nprovisions \u2013 No ex-post-facto law, No double jeopardy and No self-incrimination.<br \/>\n\u2022 <strong>Article 21 (Protection of life and personal liberty)<\/strong> \u2013 No person (citizen or foreigner) shall be<br \/>\ndeprived of his life or personal liberty except according to procedure established by law.<br \/>\n\u2022 <strong>Article 21A (Right to Education)<\/strong> \u2013 This was added by 86th amendment. As per this article, the<br \/>\nState shall provide free and compulsory education to all children of the age of six o fourteen<br \/>\nin such a manner as the State may determine.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <strong>Article 22 (Protection against arrest and detention)<\/strong> &#8211; This talks about the rights of the people<br \/>\nwhen they are detained by the Police.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>3) Rights against Exploitation (Article 23-24)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Article 23 (Prohibition of Human Trafficking and Forced labour)<\/strong> \u2013 It prohibits Traffic in Human<br \/>\nbeings, begar (forced labour) and any other similar forms of forced labour.<br \/>\n<strong>Article 24 (Prohibition of Child labour)<\/strong> \u2013 It prohibits the employment of Children under the age<br \/>\nof 14 in any factory, mine or other hazardous activity like construction work or railway. But it<br \/>\ndoes not prohibit their employment in any harmless or innocent work.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>4) Right to Freedom of Religion (Article 25-28)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Article 25 (Freedom of Conscience and free profession, practice and propagation of religion)<\/strong> &#8211; It<br \/>\nsays that all persons are equally entitled to freedom Conscience and the right to freely<br \/>\nprofess, practice and propagate religion.<br \/>\n<strong>Article 26 (Freedom to manage religious affairs)<\/strong> \u2013 It protects the collective freedom of religion<br \/>\nby giving specific rights to all religious organizations and denominations as defined by the law.<br \/>\n<strong>Article 27 (Freedom from taxation for promotion of a religion)<\/strong> \u2013 It lays down that no person<br \/>\nshall be compelled to pay any taxes for the promotion or maintenance of any particular<br \/>\nreligion or religious denomination.<br \/>\n<strong>Article 28 (Freedom from attending religious instruction)<\/strong> \u2013 No religious instruction shall be<br \/>\nprovided in any educational institution wholly maintained out of state funds.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>5) Cultural and Educational Rights (Article 29 \u2013 30)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Article 29 (Protection of Interests of Minorities)<\/strong> \u2013 It provides that any section of the citizens<br \/>\nresiding in any part of India having a distinct language, script or culture of its own, shall have<br \/>\nthe right to conserve the same.<br \/>\n<strong>Article 30 (Rights of Minorities to establish and administer Educational Institutes)<\/strong> \u2013 It allows<br \/>\nminority groups to establish and administer their religious institution without state<br \/>\nintervention or discrimination.<br \/>\n<strong>6) Right to Constitutional Remedies (Article 32)<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Article 32 (Right or Constitutional Remedies)<\/strong> \u2013 Right to move the Supreme court for the enforcement<br \/>\nof fundamental rights including the writs of (i) habeas corpus, (ii) mandamus, (iii) prohibition,<br \/>\n(iv)certiorari and (v) quo warrento.
