She has been preparing for bank exams since 4yrs. She spend most of her time preparing including clearing concepts, solving offline books etc….. Unfortunately, despite all these hardships she is not able to crack any exams. Sometimes she would fail in mains while sometimes she is out even in the prelims exam. Being really frustrated, she started analysing what is that one ‘thing’ resisting her from the well deserving success. And finally she found the culprit. It is the negative marking because of which she is not able to clear any exam. Navya is actually a imaginative character. But the sufferings she endure is actually the everyday life of a number of aspirants. In this article, we are going to discuss in detail What is negative in bank exams? and What is its effect ?in the examination and your selection.?

Banking is the one of the most preferred career path in India due to the immense opportunities and career growth it provides. But most of the candidates fail to clear the banking exams irrespective of the effort they take. The main villain in the bank exam preparation is mainly the negative marking for the wrong answer

Negative marking is introduced to check the real knowledge of the candidate. To check whether the answer they marked was just a guess work or not. In bank exams, the negative making is applicable in both the prelims as well as the main exams. In the preliminary examination, 0.25 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer, while in the mains exam, about 0.5 mark will be deducted according to the weightage of the question. What makes the negative marking system the nightmare is because, the negative mark will be deducted from the marks you gained through the correct answers. For example,

In a examination, out of a total of 100 questions, you attempted 60 questions in which 50 are correct and the rest 10 are wrong. For the correct answers you will get a total of 50 marks and for each wrong answers, 0.25 will be deducted ie, a total of 2.5 marks will be deducted. And this mark will be reduced from your above 50 marks. As a result, your total score will be reduced to (50-2.5) = 47.5 marks.

One have to be very vigilant while attempting the examination, as attempting wrong questions may lead to negative marking and decrease of marks.

How to Avoid Negative in Bank Exams?

So, the obvious question appearing in aspirants mind is how to tackle this villain ‘ Negative Marking’. There are a few tips you can adopt to avoid negative and ensure your selection in the upcoming bank exam.

1.Read and Understand the Question

As we know, the crucial element in every banking exam, especially in prelims is ‘time’ In a span of just 60 minutes you are supposed to answer 100 questions. So, because of this hurry, aspirants fail to read and understand the question correctly. This happens mainly in the puzzle section. Without paying much heed to the instructions aspirants ends up solving wrong and hence negative marking.

2. Select the options correctly

This is also another example of paying no or least attention. The banking answer choices appear to be more or less the same and therefore there are high chances of aspirants marking the wrong options. So always cross check your options with the answer before marking.

3. Guess Work is “Prohibited”

This is the most important reason for getting negative marks. Due to the urge of attempting maximum questions, candidates tends to guess the answers. This happens mainly in the English section. Without analysing the question properly, candidates marks the wrong answer.

Click here to Practice Bank Questions

4. Attempting mock tests will also help you identify your strong and weak sections so if similar cases appears in the real examination, you will be cautious automatically.

Sureshot Topics for Bank Exams 2020

5.
