On each International Forest day every year, countries are requested to start local, national and international efforts to organize activities involving forests and trees, like tree-planting campaigns. The subject for every Forest day is chosen by the Collaborative Partnership on Forests. The theme for this year is Forests and Biodiversity.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Too precious to lose<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>When we drink water, write in a notebook, take medicine for a disease or build a house, we do not always make the association with forests. And yet, these and countless other aspects of our lives that link us to the forests in one way or another.<\/p>\n<p>Forests, their sustainable organization and the use of resources, including in delicate ecosystems, are key to fighting climate change, and contributing to the wealth and well-being of current and future generations. Forests also play a crucial role in poverty mitigation and in the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).<\/p>\n<p>Forests cover one-third of the Earth&#8217;s, performing very important functions around the world.
