After the demise of his father named Guru Tegh Bahadur, it was Guru Gobind Singh who became the leader of the Sikhs at the age of nine.<\/p>\n<p>He was a great spiritual master, warrior-poet, and philosopher. It was in 1708 that he was assassinated. December 22 is the day to remember the warrior leader who rose as a famed personality for his contributions to Sikhism. It was at the age of nine when he came to be known as the tenth Sikh Guru. His hometown was in the city of Anandpur Sahib, currently in the Rupnagar district of Punjab. Later, he left the place and shifted to Nahan which is a place in the hills of Himachal Pradesh, accepting an invitation from Mat Prakash, the king of Sirmur.<\/p>\n<p>In 1699, Guru Gobind Singh, at a gathering, formed the Khalsa Vani- \u201cWaheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki fateh\u201d.
