Because of this striking resemblances between these\u00a0two\u00a0religions, certain scholars say\u00a0that Jainism originated from\u00a0Buddhism or Jainism is a part\u00a0of Buddhism. But this view is not accepted by most of the present day scholars.<\/p>\n<p>There are similarities between the two but the basic difference between the philosophical system of the two gives them a separate space in the book of religions. But, they made different changes in it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"161\"><strong><b>Spiritual Revolt<\/b><\/strong><\/td>\n<td width=\"407\">\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Both revolted against the then prevalent Brahmanical religion as both these religions were a result of intellectual, spiritual and social forces of their times.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"161\"><strong><b>Place of Origin<\/b><\/strong><\/td>\n<td width=\"407\">\n<ul>\n<li>Both originated in eastern India where time had successfully preserved the pre-Aryan culture.<\/li>\n<li>From the origin we can partly understand the reasons for their similarities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"161\"><strong><b>Caste of the Founders<\/b><\/strong><\/td>\n<td width=\"407\">\n<ul>\n<li>Both these religions were founded by members of the Kshatriya caste and both worked on the uplifting of the socially down-trodden like the Vaishvas and Sudras who were oppressed.<\/li>\n<li>Since both the Founders namely the Mahavira and Buddha were princes and belonged to the Kshatriya caste, they got help and support from the ruling class and the rich Vaishvas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"161\"><strong><b>Large Converts from lower castes<\/b><\/strong><\/td>\n<td width=\"407\">\n<ul>\n<li>As both oppossed and attacked the cast system, they attracted large converts from the lower classes of the society namely the Vaishvas and the Sudras.<\/li>\n<li>Both challenged the supremacy of the Brahmanas and were aginst then rituals ans sacrifices of the Brahmanism.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"161\"><strong><b>Nirvana or Salvation<\/b><\/strong><\/td>\n<td width=\"407\">\n<ul>\n<li>Both believed that main aim of this life is to break out of the cycle of birth and death called Nirvana or salvation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"161\"><strong><b>Authenticity of Vedas<\/b><\/strong><\/td>\n<td width=\"407\">\n<ul>\n<li>Both refused to believe in the authenticity of Vedas as an error proof authority.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"161\"><strong><b>Belief System<\/b><\/strong><\/td>\n<td width=\"407\">\n<ul>\n<li>Both emphasised on mortal life.<\/li>\n<li>They denied practising ritualism or even worship of God in order to attain Nirvana or salvation.<\/li>\n<li>Both practice Ahimsa or non-violence.<\/li>\n<li>Both believe that the deeds of an individual or Karma decides the happiness of his next birth.<\/li>\n<li>Ultimate salvation is the goal of both the religions.<\/li>\n<li>Both believed in the idea of giving up the worldly life and lean an ascetic life.<\/li>\n<li>They organised orders for monks and nuns.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"161\"><strong><b>Language<\/b><\/strong><\/td>\n<td width=\"407\">\n<ul>\n<li>Preaching was done in the common language of the people.<\/li>\n<li>Both the religion discarded Sanskrit and the old scriptures.<\/li>\n<li>Buddist texts were written in Pali and Jaina texts were written in prakrat.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/entri.sng.link\/Bcofz\/od54\/6blp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prepare for various Government exams!
