Coding refers to the instructions that create animations; coding does not refer to the animations themselves, and vice versa. Whether you\u2019re a business owner looking to incorporate coding into your marketing strategy or an animator wondering how to make money from animation, here\u2019s what you need to know about the relationship between coding and animation! To understand the relationship between coding and animation, we first have to define what coding and animation are. For example, you can take code to make an object move across a stage by taking tiny steps left and right. What&#8217;s more, objects can have codes that determine which way they move (left or right), how fast they move, and what type of movement is used (fast or slow). There are also parameters built into programming languages such as Python that allow a single line of code to do something different in each iteration. So, when we talk about coding and animation together, we really mean how these two things relate to each other or how one can help produce the other.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Creating animations through a series of commands.<\/li>\n<li>Determine the movement.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Where_Animation_Meets_Code\"><\/span><strong>Where Animation Meets Code<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>One of my favorite parts about studying animation is that it\u2019s really just an advanced form of coding. If you know how to code, you\u2019re in a great position to become an animator\u2014even without specialized training. Learning how to animate requires learning basic 2D and 3D computer graphics, motion simulation (such as physics), and even 3D modeling and rigging\u2014all things that can be learned through various coding methods. While there are often specific programs used for creating animations such as Maya or Cinema 4D, these programs are also very similar to ones used in digital visual effects (VFX) and graphic design. In fact, learning how to code well is good preparation for being an animator. Both involve telling stories using visuals, but in different ways: One via text and lines of code, and one through imagery with artful effects. Learning to animate first can make you a better coder and vice versa because both are creating jobs that require you to tell engaging stories. If you learn how to code or animate first, though, it won\u2019t be as helpful for your other skills as learning them at different times in your life will be. Even if you are a programmer, there are multiple ways that you can learn animation without going through long and painful processes. This allows anyone to become a great animator. A lot of beginners end up wasting their time on creating applications or learning from other tutorials. That won\u2019t get you anywhere in life! That mindset is also extremely valuable when you&#8217;re coding. While both are highly visual jobs that take a lot of creativity, they&#8217;re also both very technical and systematic. When you code animations &#8211; even simple ones &#8211; you often have to come up with unique solutions for common problems since there are always new ways of approaching tasks that simply don&#8217;t exist in most other industries.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It allows you to think in a different way.<\/li>\n<li>You have to come up with unique solutions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In conclusion, both coding and animation are necessary for creating a successful game. Developers and artists work together to create great games. Game development is an iterative process of designing, building, testing, refining, and repeating until your game is complete. By learning both coding and animation you will have more career opportunities in making games.
