India shares its international borders with seven other countries – Pakistan on its West, Nepal, China and Bhutan on its Northeast, Myanmar and Bangladesh on its East and Sri Lanka on the South. The Line of Control (LoC) separates the borders of both India and Pakistan and McMahon Line divides India and China. The Palk Strait and Gulf of Mannar separate India from Sri Lanka. India shares a long border with Bangladesh which touches the states of Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh. It is one of the longest borders in the world. India’s borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh were delineated according to the Radcliffe Line, which was created in 1947 during partition of India.<\/p>\n
India is surrounded by three water bodies – Indian Ocean in the South, Bay of Bengal in the East and Arabian Sea in the West.
