Setty<\/strong> revealed that the bank will recruit nearly <strong data-start=\"469\" data-end=\"509\">16,000 employees this financial year<\/strong> and expects to maintain the same hiring pace in the coming years to support its growing operations and customer service needs.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"638\" data-end=\"873\">Alongside the hiring spree, SBI is also set to open <strong data-start=\"690\" data-end=\"714\">200\u2013300 new branches<\/strong> in FY26. This move is part of its broader strategy to scale its business from <strong data-start=\"793\" data-end=\"823\">\u20b9100 lakh crore in Q2 FY26<\/strong> to <strong data-start=\"827\" data-end=\"872\">\u20b9200 lakh crore within the next 6\u20137 years<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"875\" data-end=\"918\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Filling_%E2%80%9CWhite_Spaces%E2%80%9D_Across_India\"><\/span><strong data-start=\"879\" data-end=\"918\">Filling \u201cWhite Spaces\u201d Across India<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"919\" data-end=\"1085\">According to Setty, SBI continues to identify underserved locations\u2014referred to as \u201cwhite spaces\u201d\u2014where new branches are needed despite its already extensive network.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1087\" data-end=\"1328\">He highlighted that new residential colonies and developing townships often lack adequate banking infrastructure. To bridge these gaps, the bank will continue expanding both branches and ATMs based on footfall analysis and micro-market data.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"1330\" data-end=\"1363\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Hiring_Momentum_Continues\"><\/span><strong data-start=\"1334\" data-end=\"1363\">Hiring Momentum Continues<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1364\" data-end=\"1591\">Setty confirmed that SBI\u2019s recruitment drive for this fiscal year is nearing completion, with around <strong data-start=\"1465\" data-end=\"1487\">16,000 fresh hires<\/strong> joining shortly. This hiring trend is expected to continue annually as part of the bank\u2019s growth plans.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1593\" data-end=\"1781\">As of March 2025, SBI employed <strong data-start=\"1624\" data-end=\"1644\">2.36 lakh people<\/strong>, with women making up <strong data-start=\"1667\" data-end=\"1674\">28%<\/strong> of the workforce. Employee costs rose <strong data-start=\"1713\" data-end=\"1733\">11% year-on-year<\/strong> to <strong data-start=\"1737\" data-end=\"1754\">\u20b936,837 crore<\/strong> in the first half of FY26.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"1783\" data-end=\"1824\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Boosting_Operations_Through_SBOSS\"><\/span><strong data-start=\"1787\" data-end=\"1824\">Boosting Operations Through SBOSS<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1825\" data-end=\"2152\">SBI is also expanding the role of its wholly owned subsidiary, <strong data-start=\"1888\" data-end=\"1938\">State Bank Operations Support Services (SBOSS)<\/strong>, especially in rural and semi-urban regions. SBOSS supports the bank by helping beneficiaries of government schemes, sourcing applications for agriculture and small businesses, and monitoring over <strong data-start=\"2136\" data-end=\"2151\">60,000 ATMs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2154\" data-end=\"2489\">SBI has named ATM-monitoring staff under SBOSS as <strong data-start=\"2204\" data-end=\"2220\">\u201cATM Mitras\u201d<\/strong>\u2014local residents responsible for ensuring the machines\u2019 availability, cleanliness, and maintenance.
