Get the models talking to each other in Navisworks, run some clash tests and document all the issues you found and how you fixed them. Don&#8217;t fall into the trap of putting up a portfolio that&#8217;s just made up of eye-catching photorealistic images &#8211; with no technical documentation, no clash evidence and no labelling to tell you what level of detail you&#8217;ve got in that model. That tells the recruiter nothing about your BIM skills, so what&#8217;s the point.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Not labelling your LOD.<\/strong> If you don&#8217;t tell anyone what level of detail you&#8217;ve achieved in a particular model, all anyone will think is that it&#8217;s some low level of detail &#8211; which is not what you probably want them to think.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Claiming team work as your own solo effort<\/strong>. Don&#8217;t be tempted to use the &#8220;I&#8221; pronoun to talk about your work when you were actually a member of a team &#8211; that&#8217;s just plain dishonest and will wipe out your credibility.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Listing software with no context<\/strong>. If your portfolio is just a list of all the software you&#8217;re proficient in &#8211; Revit, Navisworks, Dynamo etc etc with no actual project to show it all in action &#8211; then it&#8217;s just not a portfolio. Every tool you claim to be able to use should be demonstrated in at least one project entry.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Using confidential data without anonymising it.<\/strong> Get rid of all the client names and project names that&#8217;ll identify it as private data. The resume is a summary document of your background and the job you&#8217;ve done &#8211; education, job titles, bits of software you can use, that sort of thing.
