When a person hits 100 scores in an innings, we say he hit a century. Simply percent means the quantity of saying how much of it is in 100. It is a reference to the unification of a quantity in 100.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If you get 35 marks out of 100. The percentage of your marks is 35%. If you have taken 45 litre of milk from the 100 litre jar, you have taken 45% of milk from the jar. It is as simple as that. So, the question is what if I take 35 litres of milk from a 72 litre of jar? Here comes the conversion into percentage. There is no unified reference for this so, the total composition should be specified. For example, a cake is divided into 6 equal pieces and one of it is taken. The fraction of the cake piece taken will be 1\/6. ( 6 is the total composition and 1 is the quantity which we have taken from it.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">So how you convert it into a percentage. Simply convert into 100. Ask yourself how much the fraction is of 100. ie,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(1\/6) *100 = 16.67%<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Fraction always requires the total composition which is denoted as the denominator of the fraction. The only question remains before the aspirant is how much is it out of 100. For that we need to calculate the fraction first and convert it into 100. Sometimes the question will be not how much it is or 100. The question is how much is it by providing the percentage. It can be solved by the reverse method.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Example 1.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A cake has been sliced into 10 pieces and 40 percent of it is taken by A. The A divided the portion again into 10 slices and gave 1 slice to B. So we can go for an algebraic solution. But in a competitive examination it will take more time. Here can assume an arbitrary number as 100 to simplify the composition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">So, 60% of 100 =60 itself<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">50% of 60 = 30<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Percentage of 30 out of 100? Simply 30 itself.
