Jalaluddin Muhammad Akbar (15 October 1542 – 12 October 1605) was the third emperor of the Mughal Empire. Also known as Akbar the Great. Akbar, the son of the emperor Humayun, succeeded his father and ruled the empire from 1556 to 1605. Emperors Babur and Humayun, who preceded Akbar, could only wage war and establish an empire. But it was Akbar who established a strong regime in the empire.
