Janaki Ramachandran, wife of late M.G. Ramachandran was the first female chief minister of Tamil Nadu. She was sworn in the office of Chief minister on 7th january 1988 after the death of her husband and served for 23 days after which the Central government dissolved her office and the legislative assembly on 30th january 1988.
