Q. Three single phase transformers, each with 10 KVA rating connected in delta. If one of the transformer is damaged and taken out , the output of the system will be
Solution:
When two transformers are installed in an open-delta configuration, the total bank capacity can be found by the use of the following procedure.
- Add the two individual transformer kVA ratings. (For the problem given, the single-phase transformers are rated at 50 kVA.)
10= 20kVA
- Then multiply the total kVA value by 86.5 percent. This will give the total kVA capacity of the open-delta transformer bank.
20 x 86.5% = 17.4 kVA
