Ayyankali was born in 1863 at Venganoor in Thiruvananthapuram district. Gandhiji visited him in 1937 and called him Pulaya raja.
In 1907 he founded Sadujana Parpalana Sangam, which is later called Pulaya Maha Sabha. In 1910 he was nominated to Sreemoolam Praja Sabha. He died on 18 June 1941.
Gandhiji met Ayyankali in his last visit to Kerala in 1937 January 12.
Gandhiji’s last visit was on behalf of Temple Entry Proclamation.
