Q. Lens used to correct short sight of an eye
Solution:
- Myopia (short sight) correction by concave lens.
- In a myopic eye, the image of a distant object is formed in front of the retina and not at the retina itself.
- A concave(diverging) lens causes light rays to diverge before they strike the lens of the eye so that the image is formed on the retina. Hence, a concave lens is used to correct myopia.
- A concave lens is used to correct short-sightedness (myopia). A short sighted person’s focus is focusing before the back of the eyeball. The concave lens pushes the rays of light further apart so that they arrive together in proper focus at the back of the eye.
