Q. A dumpy level is set up between stations A and B. Staff is held at A whose reduced level is 100.000 and Back sight is noted as 1.100, then Fore Sight is noted as 1.000 after holding staff at B. What is the reduced level of B?
Solution:
By Height of instrument method
Height of instrument(H.I) = reduced level (R.L) backsight (B.S)
or H.I = R.L – F.S
at point A
R.L = 100.000
B.S = 1.100
H.I = 100.000 1.100 = 101.100
at point B
B.S = 1.000
H.I = 101.100
R.L = 101.100 – 1.000 = 100.100
therefore reduced level at B = 100.100
