Skewing of rotor side of an induction motor helps in Suppressing the undesired harmonics. The rotor or stator slot of the induction motor skewed through some angle so that the bars lie under alternate harmonic poles of the same polarity or other words, bars must be skewed through two pitches. The yellow color has some angle which is called skewing rotor.
The cooling is better because of more space between stator and rotor
The leakage flux gets reduced with large air gap length. The less noise is generated in the motor that has more air gap length.
Due to skin effect the effective resistance increases with increase in frequency.
The windings are divided into a number of coils in order to reduce the voltage between adjacent layers. These coils are axially separated by a distance of 0.5 to 1 mm. The voltages between adjacent coils should not be more than 800 to 1000 V.
The percentge of silicon in transformer stampings is limited to 4%
Diamagnetic material has a constant relative permeability slightly less than 1.
Hysteresis loss varies with frequency f as f
Usual values of flux density for a power transformer using hot rolled silicon steel is 1.25 to 1.45 Wb/m^2
An induction motor or asynchronous motor is an AC electric motor in which the electric current in the rotor needed to produce torque is obtained by electromagnetic induction from the magnetic field of the stator winding. An induction motor can therefore be made without electrical connections to the rotor. In an induction machine,if the air gap is increased then the power factor will be lowered.
