Rabindrabhanath Tagore was born at Calcutta in West Bengal as the son of Mahrshi Devendranath Tagore and Sarada devi.
One of Rabindrabhanath Tagore’s brothers, Satyendranth Tagore was the first Indian to get selected for the ICS in 1864.
In 1901, Tagore established a school at Shanti Nikethan which finally devolped into the world famous University of ViswaBharthi in 1921.
In 1912 Tagore Published Jana Gana Mana ( Now India’s national anthem)
The national anthem is composed in the Raga,’Sankarabharanam”.
The English translation of the national anthem is ” The morning song of India”
In 1913,Tagore’s Gitanjali was selected for the Nobel Prize for liteature.

In 1915, Tagore was awarded Knighthood by the British Monarch George V,but he surrenderd it in 1919 as a protest aganist the Jallianwallabagh Massacre.

‘Gora’,’Raja and Rani’,’Rajarishi’,’Kabooliwala’ etc are the famous novels of Tagore.
