How to Use Family Photo Prompts

Open Gemini’s image-generation feature and paste a prompt into the chat box. You can ask for a photorealistic family portrait, cartoon illustration, watercolour painting, vintage photograph, cinematic image, or festive poster.

A useful prompt structure is:

Create a [type of family photo] featuring [number and description of family members] [activity] in [location]. Add [clothing, objects, and decorations]. Use [lighting], [mood], [photography style], and [aspect ratio].

For example:

Create a warm, photorealistic family portrait of parents and two children standing together in a flower garden during golden hour. They are wearing coordinated pastel outfits and smiling naturally. Use soft sunlight, realistic facial details, gentle background blur, and a vertical 4:5 composition.

For editing an existing family photograph, use an instruction such as:

Edit the uploaded family photo by improving the lighting, sharpness, and background while preserving every person’s identity, face, expression, hairstyle, clothing, pose, and natural body proportions.

When generating or editing images of real family members, use photographs only with their permission. Avoid creating misleading, inappropriate, or privacy-invasive images.

How to Improve Family Photos

Family images can sometimes contain inconsistent faces, unnatural hands, awkward poses, or uneven lighting. Improve the result by giving Gemini one focused follow-up instruction at a time.

Try these follow-up prompts:

Keep every family member’s face, hairstyle, clothing, and identity unchanged, but improve the group arrangement.

Correct the hands and fingers while preserving the original poses and expressions.

Make the family look naturally connected instead of standing in a rigid line.

Replace the background with a flower garden while keeping the family unchanged.

Make the lighting consistent across every person in the family.

Preserve the original clothing colours and improve the facial details.

Create a vertical 9:16 version for a social media story without cropping any important faces.

Create a square 1:1 version with all family members centred naturally.

Make the image look like a candid photograph rather than a posed studio image.

Remove background clutter while preserving the family and important objects.

If you are editing a real family photograph, you can write:

Improve the uploaded family photo by correcting exposure, reducing blur, and cleaning the background. Preserve every person’s identity, facial features, expression, hairstyle, clothing, pose, and body proportions.

Review the finished image before publishing it, especially when it includes identifiable family members or is being used for public or commercial purposes.
