About SET Exam

State Eligibility Test popularly known as the SET exam is conducted by the Kerala State Government to recruit the best teachers to the Higher Secondary Schools and Vocational Higher Secondary Schools in Kerala. The main purpose of the SET exam is to elevate the standard of the higher secondary and Non-Vocational Teachers in VHSE.

The SET is the mandatory requirement for the recruitment of aspirants in the higher secondary education sector as per the Special Rules in force. The HSE teachers in the government schools are highly paid along with other perks and benefits which make the exam even more competitive.

The SET exam is conducted twice a year. The syllabus for the SET exam is approved by the Board of Examinations. The SET exam is conducted for 36 subjects at various exam centers all over the state. The SET exam has 2 parts, namely Part A and Part B. Part A is a general paper whereas Part B is based on your paper specialization. The exam will be conducted for 120 marks. The basic education qualification required to attend the SET exam is the Master’s degree.

The aspirants who wish to apply for the SET exam should have a Master's in the subject concerned with a minimum of 50% marks obtained from a recognized college or university in Kerala. The aspirants are also required to complete a B.Ed degree to apply for the exam.
