NEET PG Exam 2024 Overview
The NEET PG Exam 2024 is a national-level entrance exam for postgraduate medical courses in India. The National Board of Examinations (NBE) administers the exam, which is computer-based. It is held once a year and is the only entrance exam for admission to MD/MS/PG Diploma courses in medical colleges in India. The exam consists of 200 multiple-choice questions and covers subjects such as Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Forensic Medicine, Community Medicine, Anaesthesia, Dermatology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Otorhinolaryngology, Paediatrics, Psychiatry, Radiology and Surgery, and each right question will be worth four marks for the correct response and minus one mark for each wrong response. The exam duration is 3.5 hours, and there is no negative marking. The exam is highly competitive and requires thorough preparation and dedication to crack.
NEET PG Eligibility Criteria
Before applying for the NEET PG 2024 examination, candidates must go over the eligibility criteria. The qualification recruitment for NEET PG 2024 have been defined as per the provisions of the Indian Medical Council Act 1956. Find the eligibility conditions below.
Age Limit
There is no defined age limit for those who want to apply for NEET PG 2024.
Educational Qualification
To be eligible for NEET PG 2024, a candidate must have earned an MBBS degree from an institute recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI).
Number of Attempt
The NBE has not limited the number of NEET PG attempts. Thus, an applicant can take the examination repeatedly to gain admission to the desired course/institute.
Internship
Those who will finish the required one-year rotatory internship by August 15, 2024, or before, will be qualified to apply for NEET PG 2024.
Registration Certificate
Candidates who wish to apply for NEET PG 2024 must possess a valid Registration Certificate issued by the Medical Council of India (MCI) or any State Medical Council (SMC). Invalid degrees or internship certificates will lead to registration cancellation.
Foreign Medical Graduates

Nationality

Indian Citizen or Overseas Citizen of India (OCI)

FMGE Pass Certificate

Foreign medical graduates who wish to appear for NEET PG 2024 must first qualify for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE), which is a licensing examination required to register with MCI. Those who pass FMGE will receive a Pass Certificate, which they must carry on the day of the exam. If the candidate fails to carry the Pass Certificate, they won't be allowed to appear for the examination. 

Internship

All foreign medical graduates must complete their internship before August 15, 2024, to be eligible for NEET PG. 

Registration Certificate

After obtaining the FMGE Pass Certificate, these candidates must register with the MCI/SMC and submit a copy of the Registration Certificate to confirm their eligibility.

Foreign Nationals

Foreign nationals who want to apply for NEET PG 2024 must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  1. They should have completed the basic medical qualification that is recognized by the Medical Council of their respective country.
  2. They should be registered with the appropriate authority in their country.
  3. Candidates who meet these criteria do not need a Registration Certificate from MCI to apply for NEET PG 2024. However, if they pass the examination and secure a seat through NEET PG 2024, they must pay the registration fee to MCI. Afterward, they will receive a temporary registration that will only be valid for the duration of their course.
Who are Pursuing a Master's Degree
Candidates who are currently pursuing a postgraduate course can apply for NEET PG 2024. However, certain universities and institutes have regulations that prohibit such candidates from participating in the admission process until the completion of their current PG course. Therefore, candidates are advised to review the eligibility requirements of the university or institute they wish to enroll in before applying for NEET PG 2024.

NEET PG Exam Pattern
