SSC CPO Selection Process

SSC Selection Process consists of following stages:

1. Paper 1 - Written Test

2. Physical Standard Test (PST) & Physical Endurance Test (PET)

3. Paper 2 - Written Test

4. Medical Examination

  • Paper 1 (Tier I): This is a computer-based, objective multiple-choice test covering General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Knowledge, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension. It carries 200 marks for 200 questions, to be completed in 2 hours. There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer.

  • Physical Standard Test (PST) & Physical Endurance Test (PET): Candidates who qualify Paper 1 proceed to this stage, which is qualifying in nature. It evaluates physical standards like height and chest measurements. Relaxation is provided for candidates from specific categories and hilly areas upon presenting a valid certificate. The PET involves tasks such as running, long jump, high jump, and shot put. Specific requirements for male and female candidates exist. For male candidates aspiring to join Delhi Police as Sub-Inspectors, possessing a valid Light Motor Vehicle (Motorcycle and Car) driving license on or before the date of the PST/PET is mandatory.

  • Paper 2 (Tier II): Candidates clearing the PST/PET are eligible for this computer-based, objective multiple-choice exam. It focuses solely on English Language & Comprehension and consists of 200 questions for 200 marks, to be completed in 2 hours. Similar to Paper 1, a negative marking of 0.25 marks applies to incorrect answers.

Detailed Medical Examination (DME): Candidates who qualify in Paper 1 and Paper 2, along with the PST/PET, are then required to undergo a thorough medical examination. This is a crucial stage to ensure candidates meet the specified medical standards for the positions. Requirements include minimum near and distant vision, absence of knock knees, flat feet, varicose veins, or squint eyes, and the eye standards must be met without any visual correction, including eyeglasses. Other tests include vision for color blindness, examination of hands and limbs, and various other checks as deemed necessary by the medical board.
