About the SSC GD Exam

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) invites applications from candidates across the country for recruitment to various Constable posts in BSF, CISF, ITBP, CRPF, Rifleman, etc. through SSC GD (SSC GD Constable).

Recruitment for positions such as

  • Constable (General Duty) in Border Security Force (BSF)
  • Central Industrial Security Force (CISF)
  • Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)
  • Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP)
  • Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB)
  • National Investigation Agency (NIA)
  • Secretariat Security Force (SSF), and
  • Rifleman (General Duty) in Assam Rifles is conducted through the Staff Selection Commission-General Duty-Constable (SSC GD Constable).

The recruitment process consists of four stages: Computer-Based Examination (CBE), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Physical Standard Test (PST), and Detailed Medical Examination (DME).

SSC GD Job Profile
Initially, SSC GD is appointed as a security guard or escort. A GD constable is supposed to supervise all the tasks and duties in the absence of Sub-inspector and Assistant Sub-inspector. GD constables may even get cases for investigations. SSC GD Constable has to work under the supervision of SHO and follow his instructions.
SSC GD Selection Process

SSC GD selection process 2024 has four stages as per Staff Selection Commission. The first course is the computer based test or SSC GD CBT test, which tests the knowledge of the candidates on the topics related to SSC GD 2024. CBT is followed by two sessions of physical examination ie. Physical Fitness and Physical Standards. The final stage is the medical examination, which is conducted to check the overall health and fitness of the candidate for the post of SSC GD Constable.

The four stages of the SSC GD Selection Process 2024 are as follows:

  • Computer-Based Test (CBT)

Candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria can appear for the SSC GD Constable Examination conducted in English and Hindi. SSC GD Computer Based Test 2024 has four sections mentioned below.

  • Physical Efficiency Test (PET)/Physical Standards Test (PST)

The next stage of the SSC GD Selection Process 2024 is the SSC GD Physical Standard Test 2024. The SSC GD PST evaluates the endurance and fitness levels of both male and female candidates through a race. 

  • Pregnant women are ineligible to participate in the SSC GD PST.
  • Ex-servicemen are exempted from the PST, but they must attend the Detailed Medical Examination (DME), which is the final stage of the SSC GD Selection Process 2024.

As per the official notification, the candidates must be an Indian citizen or,

  • The subject of Nepal or Bhutan
  • Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  • Person of Indian Origin (PIO) who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
SSC GD Age Limit
This is one of the most important criteria for candidates to meet. Purchase must be between the ages of 18 to 23 years, which means they cannot be born later than 01.09.2005. The Commission will consider the date of birth mentioned in the Matriculation/Secondary Examination Certificate. Additionally, there is a 3-year break for all groups. This means that the candidates could not have been born before January 2, 1997 to be exercised.
