TNPSC Assistant Commissioner 2019 Qualifications Required
The post of Assistant Commissioner comes under the category of TNPSC group 1 service, which carry a higher scale of pay and duties and responsibilities. The candidates should possess graduation of any of the universities incorporated by an Act of the central or state Legislature in India or any other educational institutions established by an act of parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of the university grants commission act, 1956. If they belong to any reserved categories such as SC, ST, DC, BC, BCM etc, their age limit should be between 21years to 35 years while if they do not belong to any of these categories the age limit is 21 to 30 years. Candidates who have written the final year degree examination may also apply for the preliminary examination.

A degree either in Commerce or Law together with a diploma in Taxation laws

In addition of a registration fee of Rs 150, you will have to pay Rs.100 for your preliminary examination and Rs 200 for the main examination.
Selection Process of Assistant Commissioner of Police
There are three stages for the recruitment process of an assistant commissioner of police.
1) Preliminary examination
2) Main written examination
3) Interview
Preliminary examination
The candidates are admitted for the preliminary examination purely on the basis of the particulars given by them in their online applications. The questions will be of objective types which are to be answered in OMR sheets. Those who qualify the preliminary examination are eligible to appear for the mains. There will be 200 multiple choice questions with a total of 300 marks and the duration of the examination is 3 hours. The topics for the examination are,
1) General studies (150 questions with degree standard)
2) Aptitude and mental ability (50 questions with SSLC standard)
Main written examination
The main examinations are mostly descriptive in nature and they comprise three papers namely paper 1, paper 2 and paper 3. Each of the papers carries 250 marks and the time duration for each paper will be 3 hours.
Interview
The candidates are invited for an oral test based on their performance in the main written examination and it is considered to be the final stage of selection process. The total mark of this session will be 100 and it is conducted by a TNPSC board to assess the candidate’s suitability to this career.
NB: Candidates selected for the post of Assistant Commissioner will be required to produce a certificate of physical fitness as prescribed by the commission.
