SSC CPO Vacancy 2026

The SSC CPO 2026 notification has announced 1,871 tentative vacancies for Sub-Inspector posts in Delhi Police, CAPFs, and CISF. The vacancies include 205 Sub-Inspector (Executive) posts for males and 112 for females in Delhi Police, 1,320 Sub-Inspector (GD) posts in CAPFs, and 234 Sub-Inspector (Fire) posts in CISF for male candidates.

Sub-Inspector (Executive) in Delhi Police – Male

The SSC CPO 2026 notification includes 205 vacancies for Sub-Inspector (Executive) in Delhi Police for male candidates. The category-wise vacancy distribution is given below:

Sub-Inspector (Executive) in Delhi Police – Female

There are 112 vacancies for Sub-Inspector (Executive) in Delhi Police for female candidates.

Sub-Inspector (GD) in CAPFs

The notification provides 1,320 vacancies for Sub-Inspector (GD) in CAPFs, comprising 1,173 male and 147 female vacancies. The force-wise and category-wise distribution is given below.

Note: Candidates selected for appointment to posts of SI in CAPFs are liable to serve anywhere in India. The notification also states that the Commission does not make vacancy allocation on a state-wise, region-wise, zone-wise, or city-wise basis.

SSC CPO 2026 Online Application Form

The SSC CPO 2026 Apply Online process has started on 10 September 2026. Candidates who meet the eligibility requirements can submit their applications online through the Staff Selection Commission website. The last date to apply online is 30 September 2026, up to 11:00 PM.

SSC CPO Application Fee 2026

The SSC CPO 2026 application fee is Rs. 100. However, women candidates and candidates belonging to SC, ST, and Ex-Servicemen (ESM) categories who are eligible for reservation are exempted from paying the fee.

The fee can be paid only through online modes such as BHIM UPI, Net Banking, Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, or RuPay Debit Card. The last date for online fee payment is 1 October 2026, up to 11:00 PM.

Candidates who are required to pay the fee should make sure that the transaction is completed successfully. If the fee is not received by SSC, the application will be treated as incomplete and rejected. The fee once paid will not be refunded or adjusted against any other examination or selection.

Steps to Apply for SSC CPO Exam 2026

Below are the steps that one needs to take for successful online registration for the exam:

Step 1: Click on the official link which is provided on this page.

Step 2: The registration link will open up in the new window.

Step 3: Click on New Registration in SSC CPO 2026 application window and then click on the register button.

Step 4: To begin with the registration, candidates need to provide basic details like name, parents’ name, date of birth, email id, mobile number etc.

Step 5: Click on submit button to submit your online registration form. It is advised that candidates verify their details before submitting the form. All the candidates will be issued a Registration ID.

Candidates are required to login with the provided Registration ID, date of birth and password to complete registration.

Step 6: In the next step, candidates would have to upload photographs and signatures following the requisites mentioned by SSC.

Photograph – The photograph must be clicked in front of white colour or light-coloured background and must be more than 4 kb in size and less than 12 kb. The photograph resolution must be 100*120 pixels in width and height.

Signature – The signature must be in black or blue ink on a white sheet. The scanned copy of the signature must be in jpg format and it should be more than 1 kb in size and less than 12 kb. The resolution should be 40*60 pixels in width and height.

Step 7: Login with a registered ID and password to complete the Part-II of the application form.

Step 8: After filling up the application form, candidates must preview the entire application form, once to look for any glitches in the form.

Step 9: Click on the Final Submit button after previewing the complete online SSC CPO application form.

Step 10: Pay the required application fee to submit your form successfully. The payment of application fee can be made only through online payment modes such as Net-Banking, Credit/Debit cards and BHIM, UPI etc.

It is advised that Candidates download and get print copies of the submitted application form for SSC CPO 2026.

SSC CPO 2026 Eligibility

Candidates applying for SSC CPO 2026 must meet the eligibility conditions prescribed by the Staff Selection Commission.

SSC CPO 2026 Educational Qualification

For Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police and Sub-Inspector (GD) in CAPFs, candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification.

For Sub-Inspector (Fire) in CISF, the educational qualification is different. Candidates must meet any one of the following requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Science with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from a recognised university or equivalent.
• Matriculation or equivalent along with a three-year diploma in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Automobiles, Chemical, Mining, Aeronautical or Telecommunication Engineering, or an equivalent examination from a recognised university, board or institution.
• A higher qualification such as B.Tech/M.Tech in the relevant field may be considered as value addition, provided the basic diploma qualification is available.

Candidates claiming an equivalent qualification may be required to produce an Equivalence Certificate from the concerned authority.

SSC CPO 2026 Age Limit

The age limit for SSC CPO 2026 is different for SI (Fire) in CISF and the other posts. The age is calculated as on 1 August 2026.

Age Relaxation

SC/ST candidates get 5 years, while OBC candidates get 3 years of relaxation. Eligible Ex-Servicemen can also claim the prescribed relaxation after deduction of the military service rendered from their actual age.

For SI in Delhi Police, additional age relaxation is available for certain categories of women and departmental candidates as specified in the notification.

SSC CPO 2026 Nationality

A candidate applying for SSC CPO 2026 must be:

• A citizen of India, or
• A subject of Nepal, or
• A subject of Bhutan.

Candidates who are subjects of Nepal or Bhutan must have a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India. They may be admitted to the examination before producing the certificate, but the appointment will be offered only after the required certificate is issued.

SSC CPO 2026 Driving Licence Requirement

For the post of Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police, male candidates must possess a valid Driving Licence for Light Motor Vehicle (Motorcycle and Car) on the date fixed for the Physical Endurance and Measurement Tests (PE&MT).

Male candidates who do not have the required driving licence can still apply for the Sub-Inspector posts in CAPFs, but they will not be eligible for the Delhi Police SI post.

SSC CPO 2026 Physical Standards

Candidates who qualify in the written examination have to appear for the Physical Standard Test (PST) and Physical Endurance Test (PET). The PST/PET is qualifying in nature and does not carry any marks.

The height and chest requirements vary according to the post and category.

Physical Standards for SI in CAPFs

There is no minimum chest measurement requirement for female candidates. Relaxation in height or chest measurement is allowed only on production of the prescribed certificate from the competent authority.

Physical Standards for SI (Fire) in CISF

The notification also specifies that weight should correspond to height for all posts.

SSC CPO 2026 Physical Endurance Test (PET)

The PET requirements for SSC CPO 2026 are as follows:

The PST/PET does not carry marks and is conducted on a qualifying/elimination basis. Ex-Servicemen are not required to undergo the PET, but they must fulfil the prescribed physical standards and qualify in the written and medical examinations.

SSC CPO 2026 Medical Standards

Candidates who qualify in Paper-II are required to undergo the prescribed medical examination. The notification specifies minimum near vision of N6 in the better eye and N9 in the worse eye, and minimum distant vision of 6/6 in the better eye and 6/9 in the worse eye, without correction through glasses or surgery.

Candidates must also not have conditions such as knock knees, flat feet, varicose veins or squint, and they should possess high colour vision. They must be in good mental and bodily health and free from any physical defect that may interfere with the efficient performance of their duties.

SSC CPO 2026 Selection Process

The SSC CPO 2026 Selection Process consists of Paper-I, Physical Standard Test (PST)/Physical Endurance Test (PET), Paper-II and Detailed Medical Examination (DME). Candidates have to qualify each stage to proceed to the next stage.

Candidates who qualify Paper-I are shortlisted for the PST/PET. The physical tests are qualifying in nature. Candidates who qualify the PST/PET are then eligible to appear for Paper-II. Based on Paper-II performance, candidates are shortlisted for the medical examination.

The final selection and allocation of Post/Force will be based on the candidate’s performance in Paper-II, including applicable NCC bonus marks, and the preferences of Posts/Forces exercised by the candidate.

SSC CPO Salary Scale 2026

The SSC CPO 2026 posts carry a Pay Level-6 salary of Rs. 35,400 to Rs. 1,12,400. The pay scale is applicable to Sub-Inspector posts in Delhi Police, CAPFs, and SI (Fire) in CISF.

The SI (GD) post in CAPFs and SI (Fire) in CISF are classified as Group B (Non-Gazetted), Non-Ministerial, while the SI (Executive) post in Delhi Police is classified as Group C.

SSC CPO 2026 Exam Pattern

The SSC CPO 2026 exam pattern consists of Paper-I and Paper-II, both conducted as Computer-Based Examinations. Paper-I carries 100 marks and is conducted for 1 hour, with a sectional timer of 15 minutes for each part.

SSC CPO Paper-I Exam Pattern 2026

Paper-I will have 100 objective-type questions for 100 marks. A sectional timer of 15 minutes for each part will be applicable.

SSC CPO Paper-II Exam Pattern 2026

The notification specifies that Paper-II is also an objective multiple-choice examination. The difficulty level of Paper-II will be higher than Paper-I.

Negative Marking in SSC CPO 2026

There will be negative marking for incorrect answers in both papers:

• Paper-I: 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
• Paper-II: 0.50 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Questions in Parts I, II and III of both papers will be set in Hindi and English.

SSC CPO 2026 Syllabus

The SSC CPO 2026 syllabus covers General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Knowledge and General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension. The syllabus is applicable to both Paper-I and Paper-II, with the difficulty level of Paper-II being higher than Paper-I.

The General Intelligence and Reasoning section includes both verbal and non-verbal questions. The Quantitative Aptitude syllabus includes topics from arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry and data interpretation. The English Comprehension section tests grammar, vocabulary, sentence structure, comprehension and related language skills.

SSC CPO 2026 Admit Card

The SSC CPO 2026 Admit Card will be released online on the SSC website and concerned Regional Office websites. The admit card release date is yet to be announced. Candidates should regularly check the official website for updates.

The Admission Certificate will not be sent by post. Candidates can download it online before the examination.

SSC CPO 2026 Result

Following each phase, the SSC will independently publish the results on its official website, https://ssc.gov.in. The names and roll numbers of the applicants who passed the test will be listed in the SSC CPO Result, which will be made available in pdf format. Every applicant may view their name and roll number on the list of qualified applicants and find out if they have been selected for the next round of the hiring process.
