RRB Technician Eligibility Criteria 2026 for RRB CEN 02/2026
Candidature is provisional and based on information submitted in the online application. No detailed scrutiny of eligibility at the application stage; it will be done during Document Verification (DV). If any claim (qualification, age, category, etc.) is not supported by valid documents, the candidature will be cancelled. False or misleading information at any stage will lead to immediate disqualification.
Nationality / Citizenship
To be eligible for the RRB Technician 2025 recruitment, a candidate must be:
- A citizen of India, or
- A citizen of Nepal, or
- A subject of Bhutan, or
- A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or

Provisional Admission Clause
- Candidates requiring a certificate of eligibility may be provisionally admitted to the examination.
- However, they must submit the certificate during Document Verification, failing which their candidature will be cancelled.

- Technician Grade-III: 18 to 30 years

Note:

- Candidates who have undergone LASIK or similar eye surgeries are not eligible for posts requiring A3 medical standards.
- Ex-Servicemen have separate medical criteria, outlined in Para 534 of IRMM Vol. I.
- If a candidate is medically unfit for all posts in a pay level, they may submit a medical appeal (with fee) for reconsideration. If allotted a post within the same pay level based on medical fitness, no further appeal or change will be allowed.
- Example: In Pay Level 2 (Technician Grade III), posts may have different medical standards (A3, B1, C1). If a candidate is unfit for A3 but fit for B1, they may be allotted a B1 post based on merit and availability—no further appeals will be considered.
Educational Qualification
Qualification requirements vary by post category:
- Technician Grade-I Signal: B.Sc. in Physics/Electronics/Computer Science/IT/Instrumentation, or a 3-year Diploma/Degree in Engineering in relevant streams.
- Technician Grade-III (various trades): Matriculation/SSLC plus ITI certificate (NCVT/SCVT) in the relevant trade, or Matriculation/SSLC plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship.
Candidates must check Annexure A (Post Parameters) of the official notification for the exact qualification required for their chosen trade, as requirements differ significantly across the 25 Technician Grade-III categories.

RRB Technician Recruitment 2026 Apply Online Details – Read Before Applying
Before applying for the RRB Technician 2025 vacancies under CEN 02/2025, candidates must carefully go through the official notification and ensure they meet all eligibility requirements. Key instructions include:
- Read the CEN Carefully: Applicants must thoroughly read the detailed CEN and Annexures A, B, and C to verify eligibility, post-wise parameters, zone-wise vacancies, and merged post categories.
- Eligibility Requirement: Candidates must possess the required educational and technical qualifications as on the closing date of application submission. Those awaiting final results are not eligible to apply.
- Online Application Only: Applications must be submitted online only via the link available on the official RRB websites.
- Separate Application for Each Pay Level: Candidates must submit a separate application for each Pay Level (Level-2 and Level-5), as separate CBTs will be conducted. Exam fees must also be paid separately for each level.

- Merged Post Categories (MPCs): Out of 30 Technician categories, 12 have been merged into Merged Post Categories (MPCs) at Pay Level-2. These MPCs group similar posts with identical criteria to simplify the application process. Candidates selected under an MPC can be assigned to any designation within that category in the allotted Zonal Railway.
