UPSC CSE Eligibility Criteria: Age Limit
A candidate must have minimum age of 21 years and maximum age of 32 years by 1 August, 2022.
The upper age-limit prescribed above will be relaxable as follows:
- SC / ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years
- Ex-servicemen: 5 years
- Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): 10 years

UPSC CSE Educational Qualifications
A candidate must hold a degree of any of the Universities incorporated by an Act of the central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University.
The number of attempts
Every candidate appearing at the examination who is otherwise eligible shall be permitted six (6) attempts at the CSE.
However, relaxation in the number of attempts will be available to the SC/ST/OBC and PwBD category candidates who are otherwise eligible
- SC /ST: Unlimited
- OBC: 9
- PwBD: 9
UPSC Civil Service Exam 2022 Vacancy
The number of vacancies to be filled through the examination is expected to be approximately 861.
And this includes 34 vacancies reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disability Category.
The final number of vacancies may undergo change after getting a firm number of vacancies from Cadre Controlling Authorities.
UPSC Civil Service Exam 2022 Selection Procedure
The candidates are screened through a Preliminary examination, Mains and Interview. The best candidate for the Indian Civil Service cadre is selected with at most care. For the same reason, the level of preparation should be higher and candidates can ace preparation for the Prelims Exam scheduled on 5 June 2022.
UPSC Civil Service Exam Exam Pattern 2022
Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination (Objective type) for the selection of candidates for the Main Examination
The preliminary exam will be a screening test of Objective type questions.
The maximum marks for both papers will be 400 and the question papers will be set both in Hindi and English.
Minimum qualifying marks of 33% in General Studies Paper-II of Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination and total qualifying marks of General Studies Paper-I of Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination as may be determined by the Commission.

How to Apply Online for UPSC Civil Services Recruitment 2022?
- Log on to Website / URL https://upsconline.nic.in.
- Click on the “Online Application for Various Examinations 0f UPSC” link. Find the link for the required recruitment.
- Now fill up the personal details after reading the instructions to fill Online Application Form.
- The candidate should provide the details of the Photo ID like Voter ID /Aadhaar /Driving License etc.
- The candidate should provide a Photo ID number and confirm it.
- After completing the process, clicks on the ‘I Agree’ button, his/her eligibility for Age relaxation and other criteria is automatically checked by the system.
- With the correct eligibility, the system Displays the system-generated Unique Registration ID along with the essential identification information.
- Take the Print out of the Part I application form
