The most coveted Nobel Prize 2020 in Physics is announced! This time, it is awarded to Roger Penrose and jointly to Reinhard Genzel & Andrea Ghez. A panel at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm announced the winners at IST 3.30 PM. The award, in particular is to honor their discoveries related to Black Hole.
Roger Penrose invented the theory leading to the Black Hole formation. Furthermore, he did so by exploring Albert Einstein’s general theory of relativity. Robert Penrose certainly cemented the idea of how a black hole tears everything apart by the extreme gravity.
Reinhard Genzel and Andrea Ghez discovered the presence of a massive and invisible object that governs the orbit of our stars. Moreover, they found that it is at the centre of our Galaxy. To sum up, presently we may explain it as a super massive black hole.
Many famous scientists including Albert Einstein (1921), Henry Bacquerel and Marie & Pierre Curie (1903) has won this prestigious award in the past. However, it is noteworthy that the current nobel prize winner worked on Einstein’s famous theory of relativity.
