How Can You Be a Chartered Accountant?
1. Foundation Route
There are different paths for you to be a Chartered Accountant. The first way for achieving your dream is through the Foundation route. For this candidates who have completed the twelfth standard must attend and qualify in the Common Proficiency Test (CPT) exam. The topic which is covered in this examination is Economics, Basic Law and Mathematics. Out of the total 200 marks, candidates have to gain at least 100 marks to qualify in this examination. If you pass the CPT examination with 100 marks, you can proceed to the second stage. This phase is called the Integrated Professional Competency Course (IPCC). There are two groups at this stage. After completing both groups and the three-year article, they can move on to the third phase of the final course. At this stage too, there are two groups of four subjects each to study. Candidates who have passed the final examinations completed the Articleship, and also completed the General Management and Communication Skills (GMCS) course will be eligible for CA. You can apply for membership in the Institute.
2. Direct Entry
This is the second method for the candidates to qualify for the Chartered Accountant post. The second way is a direct entry for graduates and postgraduates (55% for Commerce) (who do not have to write the Common Proficiency Test or CPT Entrance Exam, they can go directly to the Integrated Professional Competency Course (IPCC) and everything else is the same.
