IAF or Indian Air Force let out the AFCAT 1 2022 notification to fill up 317 vacancies in the flying branch as well as ground duties for both technical and non-technical positions. The notification was released on the first of December 2021. AFCAT is an entrance test conducted by Indian Air Force to select eligible and desirable aspirants. AFCAT 1 2022 Vacancy
Indian Air Force or IAF has declared AFCAT1 2022 vacancies along with the AFCAT 1 2022 notification. A total of 269 vacancies was announced in the notification. Out of the total vacancies, ten per cent seats out of CDSE are reserved for Permanent Commission or PC for men candidates and ten per cent of seats out of AFCAT vacancies are for Short Service Commission (SSC) for both men and women are reserved for the NCC Special Entry Flying branch. AFCAT1 vacancies are announced separately for different branches.

Note: There are no opportunities in the Education and Meteorology branches for AFCAT 01 2022 for course starting from Jan 2023.
Types of Commission that come under AFCAT 1
The aspirants are selected to fill up two types of vacancies as mentioned below:
- Permanent Commission (PC):
- Vacancies under PC are exclusively for Men.
- Aspirants joining as PC officers would continue to serve till the their retirement age in their branches as per their rank.
- Short Service Commission (SSC)
- Vacancies under SSC are for both Men and
- The term of appointment for Flying Branch SSC Officers for both men and women is fourteen years from the date of Commissioning (Non extendable).
- The initial designation for Ground Duty for both Technical and Non-Technical SSC Officers would be for a ten year period. A relaxation of four years may be granted subject to service requirements, availability of vacancies, willingness, suitability and merit.
- Grant of Permanent Commission (PC) would be considered subject to availability of vacancies, willingness,service requirements, suitability and merit.

AFCAT Previous Year Vacancy
In 2021, a total of 241 vacancies were declared for AFCAT (1) exam while 334 for vacancies for AFCAT (2) exam. AFCAT 1 exam is organised for the selection of candidates as Class-I Gazetted Officers in Flying Branch and Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) branches/NCC Special Entry/Meteorology Entry for courses. Aspirants are selected through an online exam and AFSB interview shortly after the online exam.

AFCAT Vacancy 2022: Important Points
Some important points related to AFCAT vacancies are discussed below :
- AFCAT vacancies released by the Indian Air force or IAF are tentative and subject to change without notice
- Aspirants are selected based on requirements like availability of training slots, various cadre control mechanisms, and the actual number of vacancies
Details of Training
- Aspirants are chosen for training on the availability of vacancies in various branches/ sub-branches and the basis of merit.
- The time period of training for Flying and Ground Duty (Technical) Branches is 74 weeks and that of Ground Duty (Non-technical) Branches is 52 weeks at different Air Force Training Institutes.
AFCAT Salary
- The Flying Officers are entitled to a salary of INR 56,100-1,77,500. Successful aspirants are placed at pay level 10.
- The Military Service Pay or MSP provided to aspirants is INR 15,500.
- Flight Cadets are offered a fixed stipend of Rs 56,100 per month during one year of training. Besides, they are also entitled to various other.
