Special relativity applies in the absence of gravity whereas General relativity relates to gravity and it explains the law of gravitation and its relation to the forces of nature. The Special Theory of Relativity was formulated by Einstein.
The concept of relativity has been under investigation for many centuries. Classical relativity was clearly explained by Galileo and Newton and “Theory of relativity” or “simply relativity” was given by Albert Einstein and generally refers to two theories “Special Theory of Relativity” of 1905 and “General Theory of Relativity” of 1916. Modern Physics is based on the theory of relativity.

Special relativity
- The special theory of relativity was formulated by Einstein.
- The Special theory of relativity has been formulated since 1905.
- According to the theory of special relativity, all laws of physics are the same in all inertial frames. The special theory of relativity states that nothing can exceed the speed of light, which is the same in all inertial time frames and that all inertial time frames are equally good for carrying out experiments.
- Velocity differences between inertial frames.
- As per the theory of Special Relativity, space and time are not in different notions and it equates space with time and matter with energy.
- Matter and energy are aspects of the same phenomenon, matter energy is defined by the mass-energy equivalence formula,
E = mc^2
where,
E is the energy released.
m is the mass.
c is the velocity or speed of light in a vacuum.
- Kinetic Energy states Escape velocity = Gravity.
Special relativity explains that there are some things that can look different to people in different locations or in motion at different speeds other than the things that involve the speed of light in a vacuum. If an object is brought into motion relative to another, the time is a merge of space and time. That means, the things which are considered as simultaneous by one observer may not be considered as simultaneous by another observer moving in correspondence to the first. Things that are moving at the speed of light will always move at the speed of light.
General relativity
1: Who was the first woman President of India?
- The General theory of relativity is related to gravity.
- General theory of relativity has been formulated since 1916.
- It describes gravitational force as a continuous non-spatial whole of space and time. The general theory of relativity is considered as more advanced and is a widely applicable special theory of relativity.
- General theory of relativity is drawn from the theory of special relativity.
- Acceleration differences between non-inertial frames.
- Albert Einstein developed the General theory of relativity when he felt that Special theory of relativity was insufficient to describe the whole universe.
- The theory of general relativity throws the light on the force of gravity with respect to four-dimensional space-time. As per definition, the acceleration and gravitational forces are equal and same.
- Potential Energy states Acceleration = Gravity.
- Einstein considered systems accelerating with respect to each other.
General relativity throws light on the fact that space and time are actually different characteristics of the same thing, space time and that spacetime is curved. Einstein explained the effect of a large concentrated mass, in this case the Sun, by saying it warped the space around it. Curved spacetime at any point in the universe will depend on how much the gravitational force is present in that area. In addition to twisting spacetime, gravity is also capable of association of light, radio waves, and several other things. The degree of curvature depends upon the magnitude of the mass, and so matter and energy determines the curvature of space-time.
CONCLUSION
There is no such thing as an absolute frame of reference. The laws of physics apply equally to all frames of reference. The speed of light is constant in frames of reference. There is no simultaneity of events between separate frames of reference.
