The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) announces the eligibility criteria of CLAT 2022 for both integrated LLB and LLM. Candidates who want to appear in the Common Law Admission Test 2022 must fulfil the CLAT eligibility criteria as prescribed by the consortium. It covers various aspects such as educational qualification required for appearing in CLAT 2022, minimum qualifying marks, age limit and others.
To prepare for CLAT exam, candidates should take note of the changed exam pattern besides syllabus and subjects that will be asked in the question paper. Also, they should consistently prepare for all the sections for at least six months. A good preparation strategy should be made before starting the exam preparation.
As per CLAT exam pattern, the UG paper will be divided into 5 sections i.e. English Language, Current Affairs & General Knowledge, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Techniques. On the other hand, the PG will include only 2 sections, i.e. Constitutional Law and other areas of law.

Age Limit
CLAT 2022 Age Limit/Criteria for PG Programme (LLM) According to the official CLAT notification, there is no upper age limit to be eligible for admission to LLM programme through CLAT 2022. Candidates must have passed the qualifying examination (preferably graduation in Law) from a recognized University or Board.
The candidates must have passed Class 12 (10+2) or an equivalent examination from a recognized board or institution. Candidates appearing in the qualifying exam in March/April 2022 are also eligible to appear in CLAT 2022.

Candidates appearing in the qualifying exam (Class 12 for CLAT UG and final year of graduation for CLAT PG), must secure the minimum required marks. Candidates failing to secure the minimum prescribed marks in the qualifying examination will be disqualified from the CLAT admission process.

Candidates who are appearing in the qualifying examination will have to submit the marks obtained in the qualifying exam along with the mark sheet/certificate at the time of counselling, failing which, their admission will be cancelled.

CLAT Exam Pattern 2022 – Key Highlights
- Passage-based questions: Except for the Quantitative Technique section, the remainder of the four sections will include passage-based questions. The English, Current Affairs, and Logical Reasoning sections will include 450-word passages. The Logical Reasoning section will have short passages of about 350 words. Each passage will be followed by a series of questions.
- Quantitative Techniques section: The section will include short sets of facts, propositions, graphs, pictorial representation, etc. The candidate has to derive answers from such passages, representations, etc.
- Total questions and marks: The CLAT UG exam will contain 150 multiple-choice questions; each question will carry 1 mark. There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for an incorrect answer.
- Exam difficulty level: The difficulty of CLAT exam 2022 will be of Class 12. Questions asked in Quantitative Techniques are of Class 10 difficulty level.
- Skills to be evaluated: The CLAT UG question paper will test the comprehension and reasoning skills of candidates. So, rote learning won’t cut the ice.
