The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) is a statutory professional body in India for promoting and regulating the profession of company secretaries in our Country. Institute of Company Secretary of India (ICSI) has postponed the Company Secretary, ICSI CS June 2020 exam due to the COVID: 19 pandemic. The exam was scheduled to be held from June 1 to June 10. According to the ICSI latest bulletin, the ICSI Company Secretary June session exams of foundation, executive and professional programme and post membership qualification (PMQ) is rescheduled to begin from July 6, 2020, onwards. The detailed revised timetable will be announced later. Meanwhile, ICSI has also extended the deadline to register for CS executive test till May 5.

The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), is a government recognized body which trains and regulates the Company Secretaries in India. The Company Law Board in the 1960s introduces the Company Secretaryship courses. The CS certification includes three levels of exams, they are:
- Foundation Programme
- Executive Programme, and
- Professional Programme
How to become a Company Secretary in India
Eligibility Criteria to join the Foundation level programme is Pass in 10+2 Examination Or its equivalent in any stream (excluding Fine Arts). If you wish to join Company Secretary programme after 10+2 then you should successively complete all three levels ( foundation, executive, and professional). If you would like to join the Course after passing the Graduation ( Degree), has to undergo two stages of the Company Secretaryship i.e. the Executive Programme, and the Professional Programme. Professional Programme can be pursued only after completing the Executive Programme.

Exam Syllabus
The CS Foundation Programme has 04 Papers. They are
- Business Environment and Law
- Business Management, Ethics, and Entrepreneurship
- Business Economics
- Fundamentals of Accounting, and Auditing
The CS Executive Programme has 08 papers divided into 02 modules. Four papers in Module 01 are:
- Jurisprudence, Interpretation, and General Laws
- Company Laws
- Tax Laws
- Setting up of Business Entities and Closure
Papers in Module 02 are:
- Corporate and Management Accounting
- Securities Laws and Capital Markets
- Economic, Business, and Commercial Laws
- Financial and Strategic Management

EXECUTIVE & PROFESSIONAL EXAM LATEST Dates
There are 9 papers divided into three Modules in the CS Professional Programme.
Module 1:
- Governance, Risk Management, Compliances and Ethics
- Advanced Tax Laws
- Drafting, Pleading, and Appearances
Module 2:
- Secretariat Audit
- Corporate Restructuring
- Resolution of Corporate Disputes
Module 3:
- Corporate Funding, and Listing in Stock Exchanges
- Multidisciplinary Case Studies
- Electives
ICSI conducts the exam twice in a year, in June and December. The students can appear in examination in English as well as in Hindi (Except Business Communication). The candidate is declared to have passed the Foundation / Executive / Professional examination only if she/ he secures at one sitting a minimum of 40% marks in each paper and 50% marks in the aggregate of all subjects. One should complete the Executive and the Professional examination within the registration period.
