SIIMA 2022, South India’s largest and most watched film awards program, highlighted cinematic brilliance in Malayalam and Tamil films. SIIMA 2022 was held at Bengaluru, India on 10 September 2022 –11 September 2022. Notable figures from the two sectors, including Arvind Swamy, Tovino Thomas, Simbu (Silambarasan TR), Siva Kartikeyan, Arya, Hansika Motwani, and Nidhhi Agerwal, among others, attended the award event.
The 10th SIIMA was a two-day event, with Saturday night honoring Telugu and Kannada film winners and Sunday night praising the best Malayalam and Tamil films. Tovino Thomas and Simbu (Silambarasan TR) won the Best Actor Awards for Malayalam and Tamil for their roles in the movies “Minnal Murali” and “Maanaadu,” respectively. Nimisha Sayajan and Kangana Ranaut took home the Best Actress Awards for their roles in “The Great Indian Kitchen” and “Thalaivii,” respectively.
SIIMA offered special honors in two new categories in addition to the annual awards in the Tamil and Malayalam film industries. Hansika Motwani received the award for the Decade of Excellence in South Indian Cinema, while Yogi Babu received the award for Outstanding Performance of the Year.
The biggest personalities in Telugu and Kannada cinema, including names like Allu Arjun, Yash, Vijay Deverakonda, and Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan, attended the event on the first day, adding to the grandeur and splendor of the tenth edition of SIIMA.
The most nominations in a single year go to Dhananjaya, who is up in three categories. The Best Actor in a Leading Role – Kannada, Best Actor in a Supporting Role – Kannada, and Best Actor in a Negative Role – Kannada categories have all been nominated for him, making him the first person to do so. Pushpa: The Rise became the year’s most honored and most nominated movie after garnering seven awards from a total of 12 nominations.
