Success Story of PC Mustafa
This is the story of a man who failed in class 6th but went on to become an entrepreneur and built a ₹100 crore-company “ID Fresh Food”. The success story of P C Mustafa known as “The breakfast king” is a learning curve for all entrepreneurs and upcoming start-ups. A brand that has gone on to become a predominant factor in every kitchen across India and the Middle-East.
After a lot of struggle and hard work, Mustafa enrolled for engineering in NIT and got a great job in an MNC company. Mustafa officially joined as the CEO in charge of marketing and finance after completing the course at IIM Bangalore.
Early Life of PC Mustafa
PC Mustafa who runs a unique and innovative packed food company called ID Fresh Food and he belongs to a remote village in the Chennalode in Wayanad district in Kerala. He grew up in a very poor family and the small village of Kerala that had only one primary school. The village was so remote that it had no electricity and the high school being 4 kms away most of the students dropped out after primary school.
Mustafa’s father was a daily wage worker and doing a coolie job at a coffee plantation and his mother was uneducated. Due to inadequate wages of his father, Mustafa used to help his father after studies to earn extra money to fulfill their daily needs.

Education and Career of PC Mustafa
PC Mustafa was an average student. Mustafa was good at mathematics but after failing in class 6 he lost interest in going to school and joined his father as a daily wage worker.
Later Mustafa went back to school. He had to sit with his juniors and to his teacher’s surprise, Mustafa topped in class 7th and in class 10th board examination.
After class 10 he went to Farook college Kozhikode completed higher studies with decent marks. .He was one among 15 students who were offered free stay and meals at the hostel because of which other students looked at him with disdain which upset him. He was weak in English as he came from a village. A good friend of Mustafa came to his rescue as he would translate every lecture for him.
After college Mustafa took the engineering entrance exam and was ranked No 63 in the state. He got admission at the Regional Engineering College, now the National Institute of Technology Calicut and pursued a degree in computer science.
After working for a few years he had interest in Business management and cracked CAT and got admitted at IIM-Bangalore.
Journey of PC Mustafa
PC Mustafa completed his higher education after the 10th board in Farook College Kozhikode.
in 1995 he pursued a degree in computer science from the National Institute of Technology Calicut. After doing engineering from NIT, Mustafa worked for Motorola and Manhattan Associates.
Then he joined Citibank, Dubai, with a salary of ₹1 lakh. He also worked with many Multinational Corporations in Europe and the Middle East.
While studying at IIM-Bangalore he started an idli and dosa batter supplying company ID Fresh with 2 grinding mixers and a sealing machine along with his cousins by an investment of just Rs.25000.
After graduating from IIM in 2007, Mustafa joined ID Fresh as the CEO in charge of the marketing and finance department.

Foundation of ID Fresh
After working in many MNC companies in Europe and the Middle East his life was on the pathway, but Musthafa was not fully satisfied with his work then he decided to come back to create a new opportunity for his countrymen.
In 2005 PC Mustafa founded an Idli and Dosa batter supplying food industry called ID Fresh with his cousins while he studying at the Indian Institutes of Management, IIM Bangalore. His cousins started it from 550 square feet under the brand name ‘ID’ – for Idli, Dosa and delivered it on a scooter.
ID Fresh Food is one of the leading food company that is providing several flavors of Dosa and Idli including Ragi Idli/Dosa batter, Malabar Parota, Rice Rava Idli batter, and Whole Wheat & Oats Dosa.
With just a sale of 10 packets per day to 100 packets a day ID fresh has reached cities like Chennai, Mangalore, Mumbai, Pune , Hyderabad and Dubai. Today ID fresh produce around 50,000 kg in their plant with the total investment of around Rs 4 crore (Rs 40 million) and revenue of Rs 100 crore (Rs 1 billion). Along with the batter, they supplies 2,000 packets of coriander and tomato chutney, 200,000 parathas, and 40,000 chapatis, a day.
At the present time ID Fresh Food reaches not only homes in more than 8 Indian states but is also exported in Dubai. They shifted ID Fresh Food in the Hoskote Industrial area Bangalore. Currently their main manufacturing unit runs in a 15,000 square feet space in Bangalore.
