Bangladeshi teen Sadat Rahman wins International Children’s Peace Prize 2020
- Sadat Rahman from Bangladesh has been awarded the prestigious International Children’s Peace Prize 2020.
- The award was presented to 17-year-old Sadat by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai on 13 November 2020, during a ceremony in the Netherlands. He was selected out of 142 applicants from 42 countries.
- He was awarded the prize for his involvement in setting up his social organization and mobile app ‘Cyber Teens’ to stop cyberbullying.
Ruskin Bond conferred with Tata Literature Lifetime Achievement Award 2020
- Ruskin Bond, one of India’s most cherished authors, has been conferred the 11th Tata Literature Live! Lifetime Achievement Award for 2020, to recognise his very long literary life of almost seventy years.
- Apart from this, renowned poet, lyricist and screenwriter Javed Akhtar has been named as the Poet Laureate of the Tata Literature Live! The Mumbai LitFest 2020.

Mumbai Indians Defeats Delhi Capitals to Win Record 5th IPL title
- Mumbai Indians beat Delhi Capitals in the Dream11 Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 final by 5 wickets to clinch their record fifth IPL title on 10 November 2020, held at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
- Delhi Capitals won the toss and elected to bat, scoring 156/7 in 20 overs. Mumbai Indians reached the target by scoring 157/5 in 18.4 overs.
- With this win Mumbai Indians have become the only team to win consecutive IPL trophies (2019 and 2020) since Chennai Super Kings in 2010 and 2011.
World’s longest serving Prime Minister, Prince Khalifa Al Khalifa of Bahrain, passed away
- Bahrain’s Prime Minister Khalifa bin Salman al-Khalifa, has passed away. He was 84.
- Prince Khalifa was not only the longest serving PM of Bahrain, but he was the world’s longest-serving prime minister.
- He had held the post since independence in 1971.
- Bahrain is observing a week of official mourning, during which flags will be flown at half-mast.

- Indian astronomers have collaborated with the 2020 Physics Nobel Laureate Prof. Andrea Ghez for the design of back-end instruments and possible science prospects of the Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT) project.
- The Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT) is a proposed extremely large telescope (ELT) which is planned to be installed at Maunakea on the island of Hawaii.
- The TMT project is an international partnership between CalTech, Universities of California, Canada, Japan, China, and India , to revolutionize the understanding of the universe and the enigmas in it.
Malayalam author S Hareesh wins the JCB Prize for Literature 2020
- Malayalam writer S Hareesh has won the JCB Prize for Literature for 2020 for his novel Moustache. It is his debut novel.
- The novel has been translated into English by Jayasree Kalathil and published by HarperCollins India.
- While the Malayalam author will receive cash prize of Rs. 25 lakh the translator will receive an additional Rs. 10 lakh.
- Established in 2018, the JCB Prize for Literature is regarded as the richest literary prize in India. It honours distinguished work of fiction by an Indian writer working in English or translated fiction by an Indian writer.
Indian Diplomat Vidisha Maitra elected to UN Advisory Committee- ACABQ
- An Indian diplomat Vidisha Maitra has been elected to the UN Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions (ACABQ).
- She will serve for a three-year term beginning January 1, 2021.
- ACABQ is a subsidiary organ of the General Assembly, which ensures that fund contributions to the UN system are put to good effect and that mandates are properly funded.
India’s longest motorable suspension bridge inaugurated in Uttarakhand’s Tehri-Garhwal district
- India’s longest single-lane motorable suspension bridge has been inaugurated in Tehri-Garhwal district of Uttarakhand.
- The Dobra-Chanti Jhula (suspension) bridge, was inaugurated by the Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat to mark the 21st foundation day of the state on 8th November 2020.
- The bridge is 725-metre long and has been built in 14 years over the Tehri lake with a cost of Rs. 2.95 crore.
- It will cut travel time between Tehri and Pratapnagar from 5 to 1.5 hours.
Vidya Balan’s short film ‘Natkhat’ becomes eligible for Oscar nomination
- The Indian film ‘Natkhat’, starring and co-produced by Vidya Balan, has won top prize at the third edition of Best Of India Short Film Festival 2020.
- By winning the festival, the film has become eligible for 2021 Oscar qualification.
- The film has been directed by Shaan Vyas and co-produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Vdya Balan.
