Often, the words sanctuary and biosphere reserve are used interchangeably. But they are not the same. A wildlife sanctuary is an area where animal habitats and their surroundings are protected from any sort of disturbance. A biosphere reserve is a protected area meant for the conservation of plants and animals. There are about 50 reserves to protect our National animal in our country. Biosphere Reserve
A biosphere reserve is an area reserved for the conservation of plants and animals. The aim to conserve the biodiversity of the area and the traditional lifestyle of the tribal in that area.
Tiger is our National animal. India is home to about 80% of the tiger population in the world. In order to protect the tiger population in our country, the Government launched Project Tiger in the year 1973. Currently we have fifty tiger reserves in India. Here is a list of tiger reserves in India
