Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) has released notification regarding recruitment for the posts of Post Graduate Teachers (PGT), Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT) and Group B Miscellaneous Teachers. The notification was released on 1st July, 2022 and is available in the official website. The notification mentions the eligibility criteria for applicants. Interested candidates are advised to go through the criteria to ensure their eligibility. This article gives all the details regarding eligibility criteria.

NVS TGT,PGT Eligibility Criteria
NVS has set certain criteria regarding the age limit and educational qualification. Only those candidates who fulfil these criteria will be considered. Applicants are therefore advised to go through the criteria in detail to ensure their eligibility. The Cut-Off date for determining various eligibility criteria will be 22nd July, 2022.

Only Indian nationals can apply for this vacancy.
Educational Qualification
Post Graduate Teachers:
Applicants should have the following qualifications:
- Two years Integrated Post Graduate Course from Regional College of Education of NCERT or any other NCTE recognized University / institute, in the concerned subject with at least 50% marks in aggregate OR Master Degree from a recognized university with at least 50% marks in aggregate in the concerned subject.
- B. Ed degree
- Proficiency in Teaching in Hindi and English medium.
Note: B. Ed Degree is not required for the candidates who have undergone 4 years integrated degree course of Regional College of Education of NCERT or other NCTE recognized institution.
Candidates with the following qualifications will be given preference:
- Experience as TGT in the recognized institution in concerned subject.
- Experience of working in a residential school.
- Knowledge of Computer application
Those who are applying for PGT Computer Science should have at least 50% marks in aggregate in any of the following:
BE or B. Tech (Computer Science/ IT) OR BE or B. Tech (any stream) and Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Science OR M. Sc (Computer Science/ IT)/ MCA OR B. Sc (Computer Science)/ BCA and Post
Graduate Degree in any subject OR Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Science/ IT and Post Graduate Degree in any subject OR ‘B’ level from DOEACC/ NIELT and Post Graduate Degree in any subject from a recognized University/ Institute OR ‘C’ level from DOEACC/ NIELT Ministry of Information and Communication Technology and Graduation.
Applicants should also have proficiency in teaching in Hindi/ English.
Those who have B. Ed degree will be given preference. For subsequent promotion the incumbent
will have to acquire B.Ed. degree.
Trained Graduate Teachers
Applicants should have any of the following qualification:
- Four years integrated degree course of Regional College of Education of NCERT or other NCTE recognized institution with at least 50% marks in the concerned subject as well as in the
aggregate. - Bachelors Honors Degree with at least 50% marks in all the concerned subjects individually and
also in aggregate. Candidate should have studied requisite subjects for at least 2 years in the 03
years degree course - Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university with at least 50% marks in the concerned subjects
and also in aggregate. The candidate should have studied the requisite subjects in all three years
of degree course.
Post wise educational requirement are as follows:
For TGT Hindi: Hindi as a subject in all the three years of Degree course.
For TGT English: English as a subject in all the three years of Degree course.
For TGT Mathematics:
(i) Bachelor Degree in Mathematics along with Physics and any one of the following subjects: Chemistry,
Electronics, Computer Science, Statistics.
(ii) In case of such Universities which provide for only two subjects out of the six as mentioned
above in the final year of graduation, the candidate should have studied Mathematics and Physics in the
final year of examination and three subjects, viz, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry / Electronics /
Computer Science / Statistics in the first and second years of graduation.
(iii) Candidates who have passed B.Sc. degree with Honors in Mathematics subject would be
considered eligible only if they have studied Physics and Chemistry / Electronics / Computer
Science / Statistics in any of the two years of the course. Candidates with B.Sc. (Hons.) in Physics
or Chemistry are not eligible for the post of TGT (Mathematics).
For TGT Science (Botany, Zoology and Chemistry):
(i) The candidate should have studied Botany, Zoology and Chemistry during all the three years of
study in graduation.
(ii) In case of universities which provide for only two subjects in the final year of graduation,
the candidates should have studied any of the two subjects out of Botany, Zoology and Chemistry
in the final year of examination and all the three subjects, viz. Botany, Zoology and Chemistry in
the first and second years of graduation.
(iii) In case of Honors Degree in any of the above mentioned three subjects, the candidate must
have studied other two subjects in any of the two years of the course.
For TGT Social Studies:
(i) The candidate should have studied any of the two subjects out of the following subject
combination at graduation level:
(a) History with Geography/ Economics/ Political Science
OR
(b) Geography with History/ Economics/ Political Science (in other words candidates should have
studied any two subjects out of History, Geography, Economics and Political Science, in which
one must be either History or Geography)
(ii) History/Geography as above should have been studied for all three years in the Graduation.
(iii) In case of Honors Degree in History the candidate should have studied Geography/ Economics/ Political Science in any of the two years of the course. Similarly in case of Honors degree in Geography, the candidate should have studied History/ Economics/ Political Science in any of the two years of the course. Candidates with B.A.(Honors) in Economics or Political Science are not eligible for the post of TGT (S. St.)
For TGT Third Language:
Concerned Regional Language as a subject / elective subject in all the three years of Degree Course.
Apart from these, all TGTs should have passed the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) conducted by CBSE in accordance with the guidelines framed by the NCTE, have B. Ed. Degree and should have competence to teach through English and Hindi languages.
Note: B. Ed Degree is not required for the candidates who have undergone 4 years integrated degree course of Regional College of Education of NCERT or other NCTE recognized institution.
Preference will be given to those who have experience of teaching in a residential school and have knowledge of computer application.
Age Limit
Post Graduate Teachers: Applicants should not exceed 40 years of age.
Trained Graduate Teachers: Applicants should not exceed 35 years of age.
NVS TGT,PGT – How to Apply?
1: The first recipient of the ‘Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna’ award?
- Applications have to be submitted online through the official website of NVS – www.navodaya.gov.in
- Applicants should have a valid email id.
- The online applications should be filled carefully as per instructions contained in the online application format.
- Select three exam centers based on preference.
- Information once submitted cannot be altered, hence be extremely careful while filling the form.
- On submitting the application, a login ID and password will be generated and sent on the registered e-mail address.
- Pay the application fee.
- Once done, take a print out of the online application. The application printout will have to be submitted during document verification.
Application Fee
The application fee for the posts are as follows:
- Post Graduate Teachers: Rs.1800
- Trained Graduate Teachers: Rs.1500
No fee is required to be paid by candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ PH categories.
