The Central Administrative Tribunal of New Delhi has recently passed an order under which B.Ed candidates are now eligible to apply for PRT teacher vacancies in Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board. The tribunal has passed the permissions for all of the candidates. The candidates have previously filed a case against not allowing B.Ed candidates to apply for the PRT vacancies present in DSSSB. The case was specially filed for the post of Assistant Teacher (Primary) with code No. 42/21. The main concern of the candidates was to include B.Ed in the educational criteria which were mentioned in the official notification published by the authorities for the recruitment of Assistant Teachers in the PRT Department of the DSSSB organisation.

Previous Educational Criteria For PRT
Given below are the details regarding the educational criteria which was mentioned by the DSSSB organisation previously on which the candidates were not satisfied and filed the complaint against Delhi Education Board and also Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board. The information regarding the candidates holding a Bachelor Of Education degree was not mentioned in the previous educational criteria which were available on the official website and the official notification for the recruitment opportunity.
- Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2 years Diploma in elementary education (by whatever name known) from a recognised Board OR Senior Secondary ( or its equivalent) with atleast 45% marks and 2-years Diploma in elementary education (by whatever name known) in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) regulations-2002 OR Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with atleast 50% marks and 4-years Bachelor of elementary education (B.El.Ed) OR Senior Secondary (or it’s equivalent) with atleast 50% marks and 2-years Diploma in Education (special education) from a recognised Board OR Graduation and 2-years Diploma in elementary education (by whatever name known) from a recognised Board
- Pass in the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
- Must have passed Hindi or Urdu or Punjabi or English as a subject at the Secondary Level.
- Relaxation up to 5% in the qualifying marks ( in Academic qualification) shall be allowed to the candidates belonging to reserved categories such as SC/ST/OBC/PH.

Finally, CAT has issued an order indicating that the candidates holding B.Ed degrees are now eligible to apply for the post of Assistant Teacher as in the other states of India and for the candidates who have not applied for this vacancy due to the eligibility criteria will be provided with a new timeline. The last date to apply for this recruitment opportunity has been extended to help the candidates who were not able to apply for it due to the confusion created. The closed vacancies will also be reopened for the people who were not able to fill their forms.
