APO’s Job profile includes the following duties:

• To investigate cases brought up by police, those involving complaints or charges directly filed with Assistant prosecutors and those perceived by Assistant prosecutors, and to decide whether to prosecute them in court (juvenile cases are given to family court). APO’s have the authority not to prosecute cases (suspension of prosecution etc.) due to the intensiveness of the crimes and various conditions even in cases that can be prosecuted (where there is sufficient information to obtain a conviction).
• To prove cases brought to proceedings and request the court for proper judge
• To manage the execution of judgments.
• To hold administrative tasks as prescribed by law as a representative of the public interest.

・To interrogate suspects.
・To arrest with warrants.
・To arrest without warrants or request warrants in such situations.

BPSC APO’s have very good career in India. They start as BPSC APO in Lower courts and than after more than 7 years of service become Public Procecutors  in Session”s/ADJ courts.Their basic role is to prosecute the accused individual brought by Police in all criminal cases and convey the truth before the court.
