Age Limit
Age will be calculated as on 01.01.2020. The minimum age for candidates from all categories is 20 years. The age relaxation in the upper age limit is as follows:
- General/ EWS Male- 37 years
- General/ EWS Female- 40 years
- BC/EBC Male and Female- 40 years
- SC/ST Male and Female- 42 years
Educational Qualification
The minimum educational qualification needed for the candidates to apply for the posts is Graduation fro a recognized University on or before 01.08.2020.

BPSSC SI and Sergeant Exam Pattern and Syllabus
The exam will be having a Prelims Phase, Mains, Physical Endurance Test, and Medical Examination.
Preliminary Examination:
- 100 questions for 200 marks- Objective questions
- Time Duration of examination- Two hours
- Subjects included are- General Knowledge and Current Affairs
- There will be a negative marking of 0.2 marks for each wrong answer.
- The minimum percentage to qualify for the Mains exam is 30%.
Mains Examination:
- Written Objective type.
- There will be Two papers-each paper with two hours’ duration.
- Paper-I General Hindi- 100 questions for 200 marks
- Paper-II General Studies, Civics, General Science, Indian History and Geography, Maths and Mental Ability – 100 questions for 200 marks
- There will be a negative marking of 0.2 marks for each wrong answer.

Application Procedure
- Candidates can apply ONLY through the ONLINE mode.
- Visit the official Website of BPSSC.
- Click on Apply Online for the post of Police Sub-Inspectors and Sergeants in Home (Police) Dept
- Click on Registered & Make Payment. Read the Instruction and proceed.
- Tick the Declaration Checkbox before Proceed to Registration & Payment.
- After Clicking on Proceed to Registration & Payment, Select the Option of Direct Recruitment Or Ex-Serviceman Or Employee of Bihar Government.
- Enter the Applicant Details.
