The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is a national-level exam conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). As per the official guidelines, the CTET shall apply to schools of the Central Government (KVS, NVS, Central Tibetan Schools, etc.) and schools under the administrative control of UT‟s of Chandigarh, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu and Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep and NCT of Delhi. This exam is conducted twice a year to appoint eligible candidates as teachers for classes 1 to 8. The CTET exam involves two papers – paper 1 and paper 2. CTET paper 1 is for teachers of classes 1 to 5 and paper 2 is for classes 6 to 8. The candidates aspiring to teach Classes 1- 8 are required to clear both papers.
CTET 2021 paper 2 , which was supposed to be conducted on December 16 and 17 got postponed due to server issue and was conducted on December 20. The paper was conducted in the afternoon session (2.30 PM to 5 PM). This was the first time the exam was conducted in computer based format. The candidates did not face any technical glitches during the exam. CTET paper comprises of four sections:
- Language I and II
- Child development and Pedagogy
- Mathematics
- Science / Social studies
The paper consisted of 150 questions for a total of 150 marks. The subject specific section consists of 60 questions and all the other sections have 30 questions each. There will be no negative marking. Read on to know the detailed analysis of the paper, difficulty level of each section, number of good attempts and marks needed for qualifying.
CTET Paper 2 Analysis
- Most of the questions were from the syllabus.
- The CTET paper 2 was moderate to difficult.
- Some questions needed reasoning and logic.
- Child development and pedagogy section was moderate.
- Child development section was tricky and had many case based questions.
- Science section was moderate.
- The difficulty level of Mathematics was hard.
- Most of the questions in Mathematics were application based.
- For social science, the difficulty level was moderate to hard.
- Expected number of good attempts is 100+.
