Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota (SDSC SHAR) is conducting a recruitment drive for the post of Primary Teacher (PRT), Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) and Post Graduate Teacher (PGT). An official notification in this regard was earlier released by ISRO. This is an opportunity many have been looking forward to. Candidates shall be selected based on their performance in a written test followed by a skill test.
Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota (SDSC SHAR), is the Spaceport of India under Indian Space Research Organization, Government. of India and is located in Tirupati District, Andhra Pradesh. It operates Space Central Schools at its Sriharikota and Sullurpeta campuses under NCERT / CBSE pattern of education.

ISRO Teacher Eligibility Criteria
To be a part of the reputed organization one should have certain qualifications. These requirements have been set by ISRO to recruit the best talent from the whole lot. Applicants must go through these criteria and ensure that they satisfy all the conditions laid by ISRO. The applications of those who do not meet the eligibility criteria will be rejected.
Have a look at the criteria laid down by ISRO in terms of educational qualification and age limit.
Educational Qualification
The educational qualification requirement varies depending on the post. The requirements are as follows:
Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) for Mathematics: Applicants should have Masters Degree from a recognized University with at least 50% marks in aggregate in Mathematics/ Applied Mathematics OR should be Integrated Post Graduate of Regional College of Education of NCERT in mathematics with at least 50% marks in aggregate.
Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) for Physics: Applicants should have Masters Degree from a recognized University with at least 50% marks in aggregate in Physics/ Applied Physics/ Nuclear Physics/
Electronics OR Integrated Post Graduate M. Sc course of Regional College of Education of
NCERT in Physics, with at least 50% marks in aggregate.
Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) for Biology: Applicants should have Masters Degree from a recognized University with at least 50% marks in aggregate in Botany/ Zoology/ Life Sciences/ Bio Sciences/
Genetics/ Micro- Biology/ Bio-Technology/ Molecular Biology/ Plant Physiology OR Integrated Post Graduate M. Sc Course of Regional College of Education of NCERT in Botany or Zoology, with at least 50% marks in aggregate.
Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) for Chemistry: Applicants should have Masters Degree from a recognized University with at least 50% marks in aggregate in Chemistry/ Bio Chemistry OR Integrated Post Graduate
M. Sc Course of Regional College of Education of NCERT in Chemistry, with at least 50% marks in
aggregate.
Note: All those applying for the above PGT posts should also have B. Ed / equivalent degree from a recognized University and proficiency to teach in English medium. Having a knowledge of computers is desirable.
Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) for Mathematics: Applicants should have completed four years integrated degree course of Regional College of Education of NCERT in Mathematics, with at least 50% marks in aggregate OR a Bachelor Degree in Mathematics with at least 50% marks in aggregate, with any two of the following subjects : Physics, Chemistry, Electronics, Computer Science, Statistics.
Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) for Hindi: Applicants should have completed four years integrated degree course of Regional College of Education of NCERT in Hindi, with at least 50% marks in aggregate OR a Bachelor degree in Hindi with at least 50% marks in aggregate. They should have studied Hindi as a subject in all the years of graduation.
Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) for English: Applicants should have completed four years integrated degree course of Regional College of Education of NCERT in English OR a Bachelor degree in English with at least 50% marks in aggregate. They should have studied English as a subject in all the years of graduation.
Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) for Chemistry: Applicants should have completed four years integrated degree course of Regional College of Education of NCERT in Chemistry OR a Bachelor degree in Chemistry with at least 50% marks in aggregate, with Botany or Zoology as a subject at graduation level.
Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) for Biology: Applicants should have completed four years integrated degree course of Regional College of Education of NCERT in Botany or Zoology OR a Bachelor degree in Botany or Zoology with at least 50% marks in aggregate, with a combination of any two of the
following subjects: Chemistry, Botany, Zoology.
Note: All those applying for the above TGT posts should have a B. Ed/ equivalent degree from a recognized University, should have passed in the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET), Paper-II,
conducted by CBSE / NCTE and should have proficiency to teach in English medium. Having a knowledge of computers is desirable.
Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) for PET: Applicants should have a Bachelor Degree in Physical Education or equivalent.
Primary Teacher: Senior Secondary/ equivalent with at least 50% marks and two year Diploma in Elementary Education / equivalent OR Senior Secondary / equivalent with at least 50% marks and four year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B. El. Ed) OR Senior Secondary / equivalent with at least 50% marks and four year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B. El. Ed) OR Graduation with at least 50% marks and Bachelor of Education (B. Ed). They should also be qualified in the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) Paper-I conducted by Govt. of India and should have proficiency to teach in English medium. Having a knowledge of computers is desirable.
Any candidate seeking claim of equivalence of the qualification with the above should furnish documentary evidence in support of his/ her claim at the time of Skill Test.
Age Limit
Age is also a factor for choosing the right candidate. The permitted age limit is as follows:
- Post Graduate Teacher- 18 to 40 years
- Trained Graduate Teacher – 18 to 35 years
- Primary Teacher – 18 to 30 years
The cut off date for calculating the age limit is 28th August, 2022.
Age Relaxation
ISRO gives relaxation in the upper age limit to candidates belonging to the reserved categories. The age relaxation is as follows:
- Scheduled Caste (SC): 5 years
- Other Backward Class (OBC): 3 years
- Ex-Servicemen (ESM), Persons With Benchmark Disabilities (PWBDs) and Central Govt. Employees: as per Government of India Orders.
Nationality
Only Indian nationals are eligible to apply for this vacancy.

How to Apply for ISRO Teacher Recruitment?
1: The first recipient of the ‘Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna’ award?
- First and foremost, applicants should go through the official notification and ensure that they satisfy all the eligibility criteria as well as other conditions set by ISRO.
- Once you are convinced that you are eligible, keep scanned copies of all the required documents.
- Then go to the official website – shar.gov.in
- In the homepage, click on the ‘Careers’ tab at the top of the page.
- Click on the application link against the ‘Post Graduate Teachers, Trained Graduate Teachers and Primary Teachers’.
- A registration page will open. Register by filling in the required information.
- Click on register. This will create an user ID and password. Note down the login credentials as this is needed to login.
- Using the login credentials access the ISRO Teacher Recruitment 2022 application form.
- Carefully fill in the form with all the required details and attach required documents.
- Pay the application fee.
- Submit the form.
- Take a print out for future references.
Documents Required for Submitting Application
- Recent color passport size photograph in .jpg format.
- Signature in .jpg format.

Processing Fee
Application Fee
An application fee of Rs 250 is applicable for each application. This is non-refundable and hence one must ensure that all the details provided by them are accurate and error free. Candidates should enter
their bank account details correctly for receipt of refund of Processing fee. The fee may be paid online through Debit Card/ Internet Banking. Initially all candidates have to pay Rs 750 per application as Processing fee. The Processing fee will be refunded to candidates who appear in the written test, as follows :-
- Rs.750/- : i.e. refund in full for candidates who are exempted from payment of Application Fee (Women/ SC/ ST/ PWBD/ Ex-Servicemen).
- Rs.500/- : i.e. after deducting the Application Fee in respect of all other candidates
If the candidate could not make the payment of fee due to transaction failure or otherwise within the due date/ time, he/ she can pay the fee up to the next day of closure of on-line application registration (i.e., 1700 Hrs on 29th August 2022) by clicking ‘Make payment’ option available in the on-line recruitment portal. No other mode of payment will be acceptable.
