Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has started a recruitment drive for the post of teachers – Trained Graduate Teacher, Post Graduate Teacher and Primary Teacher. Interested candidates can through the notification and apply online through the official website – shar.gov.in. Candidates should have a thorough idea about the selection process in order to prepare in the best possible way. This article gives a detailed view of the selection process.

ISRO Teacher Selection Process
The selection of candidates for the post of Primary Teacher, Trained Graduate Teacher and Post Graduate Teacher will be done in two stages:
- Written Test
- Skill Test
All the eligible candidates will from those who had applied will be called for a written test. The candidates will be shortlisted for the Skill Test on the basis of their performance in the written test. The shortlist of the candidates will be prepared in a 1:7 ratio where a minimum of 10 candidates will be selected for the Skill Test from each category based on the total number of vacancies for each post.
Written Test
The Written Test will be conducted in such a way that theoretical and practical knowledge of
the candidate is tested covering both the breadth and depth of the prescribed curriculum. It will be a Computer Based Test (CBT). There will be two papers, Paper I and Paper II and the duration for each paper will be two hours and thirty minutes (180 minutes). Both the papers will contain 150 questions each.

Skill Test
Skill Test will be purely on go-no-go basis and marks obtained in the Skill Test shall not be considered for final selection. The Skill Test shall be evaluated on a 100 points scale and a minimum qualifying marks for the Skill Test shall be 60 out of 100. The Skill Test shall be a chalk and board based test to assess the teaching skills of the candidate. Each candidate will be given a subject oriented topic and has to
demonstrate his/ her subject knowledge and teaching ability, by way of handling the subject.
Candidates have to submit all relevant original documents, in proof of details furnished in their online applications at the time of Skill Test. If any information furnished in the application form is found to be wrong or false, the candidate will not be allowed for Skill Test and travelling allowance will not be paid.
Final Selection
The final selection will purely be based on the marks obtained in the Written Test, from amongst the candidates who qualify in the Skill Test. Empanelment shall be done in the order of marks obtained in the Written Test, subject to number of vacancies notified. In case of a tie in the Written Test scores, the academic scores of the essential qualification prescribed, i.e. Post-graduation/ Graduation/ Senior Secondary, as the case may be, will be the first tie-breaker. The second tie breaker will be the age of the
candidate (senior candidate will be placed ahead). Wherever posts are reserved and sufficient number of such reserved candidates are not available for `short-listing for skill test in the defined ratio’ or for `empanelment (select list & wait list)’, then relaxation in qualifying standards (both written test & skill test) will be extended to such candidates to make good the short-fall.
At present the place of posting is SDSC SHAR, Sriharikota, but the selected candidates are liable to be posted in any of the Centers/ Units of the Indian Space Research Organization/ Department of Space situated in India as and when required.
