Merit list preparation and selection of candidates for Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS)
- Selection process will be based on the automatic generated merit list as per the rules and norms based on the candidate’s online submitted applications.
- No bonus weightage will be provided to higher educational qualification. Passing in all the subjects as per the respective approved board norms is mandatory for taking candidate into account for calculating the merit.
- In case candidates get the equal marks strata, the merit order would be made on the basis of criterion like DOB (higher age as merit), ST female, SC female, ST Male, SC Male OBC female, UR female, OBC male, UR male.
What is the next process after getting into the merit list of GDS?
- The Rajasthan Postal Circle GDS Result is being prepared and will be released based on the merit of the applicant concerning to the post applied by them.
- As a way to confirm, India Post will also forward an SMS on a prescribed date to those candidates who have been shortlisted.

Documents to carry during the document verification

- Two months Computer Training Certificate.
- Two Photographs of 5cm x 7 cm size.
- Physically Disabled Certificate if applicable.
- Transgender Certificate if applicable.
- Photo Identity (ID) Proofs i.e. Aadhaar Card and PAN Card.
- Original Domicile Certificate.
- Original Income Certificate.
The provisional selection of those candidates who doesn’t respond within 15 days from the date of issue of the intimation letter will be cancelled without any prior notice.

Roles and responsibilities
The Gramin Dak Sevak has got various other posts under it, they are the post of the Branch Post Master (BPM), Mail Carrier (MC), Mail Deliverer (MD) and Packer. Any interested candidate can apply as per their eligibility.
Duties of a Branch Post Master /Assistant Branch Post Master
- Post Manager has the responsibility to take care of entire Gram Panchayat postal works.
- The Branch Post Master will be heading the branch and he/she should administrate the works to be performed under his/her branch.
- The Post Manager is responsible to promote Government Schemes such as Sukanya Samrudhi Yojana, Money Depositing etc, and aim at opening maximum number of accounts in his/her branch.
- The BPM is responsible to take care of money orders, book posts, speed posts etc.
- The Branch Post Master is responsible to assign the task of distribution to the concerned person. The job responsibility of Assistant Branch Post Master includes the sale of stamps/stationery, conveyance, and delivery of mail at doorstep, deposits/payments/other transactions under IPPB, assisting Branch Postmasters in counter duties etc.
Duties of a Mail Deliverer
- The Mail Deliverer directly comes under the Branch Post Master and has to assist the BPM in his work.
- The Mail Deliverer will be assigned with some targets to complete. He/she has to convince the local villagers to open accounts in the post office.
- In the absence of the Mail Carrier, the MD has to carry out his job.
- MD have to collect Mail from the Head Office/Sub Office & deliver it to the respective branch.
- The MD is responsible to create awareness regarding Govt schemes and encourage the public to participate in them.
Duties of a Mail Carrier
- The main responsibility of a Mail Carrier is to carry the mail bags from the account post to the branch post office and the mailbag from the branch post office to account office.
- The Mail Carrier’s job is to carry the mail and deliver it to the people in the village. The work may seem similar to that of a post man, but the post of MC comes under the MTS (Multi-Tasking Staff), therefore the person has to do other work assigned to him along with being the MC.
Duties of a GDS Packer
- The packer has the responsibility to assist the mail collector and mail deliverer.
- The main role of the packer is to pack the mail bags and open the mail bags and distribute it to the MD & MC.
- He/she has to open the mails that arrive in the branch office daily. He/she has to sort the mail according to addresses & repack the mail that has to send to other offices. The Packer also comes under the category of MTS i.e. Multi-Tasking Staff
The selection process for the post of Gramin Dak Sevak is largely based on the merits there is no examination conducted to select the eligible candidates.
