Speaker of the Lok Sabha 2021
1: Who was the first woman President of India?
The Speaker of the Lok Sabha is the presiding officer and he has the highest authority among the Lok Sabha members of the parliament. The election of the speaker of the lok sabha will be conducted in the first meeting of lok sabha by few general elections. The Speaker of lok Sabha will be selected from the sitting members of the lok sabha and by convention he will also be the member of the ruling party. The term of service of the lok Sabha speaker is 5 years.
Election of the speaker of Lok Sabha
The members of the parliament elects the speaker from among themselves. The MPs will propose a name of the member to the Pro term Speaker. The suggested member should be someone who can understand and implement the functions of the speaker. The names suggested by the members of the parliament will be then notified to the President of India. If only one name was nominated by the members then he will be elected as the Speaker of the lok sabha. If more than one name was suggested then a division vote will be conducted to elect the speaker of the lok sabha. The then selected speaker will serve till the next general election.
Powers and functions of the Lok Sabha speaker
- The speaker of the lok Sabha has to maintain discipline among its members.
- The Speaker has the right to punish a member for unruly behavior by suspending them
- The Speaker has the power to permit the movement of motions like motion of no confidence, motion of adjournment, motion of censure and calling attention notice as per the rules.
- The Agenda for the meeting of the members of lok Sabha will be decided by the speaker
- The speaker should also preside over the joint sitting of both houses of Parliament
- The speaker of the lok Sabha has the six rank on the order of precedence along with the chief justice of India

Rajya Sabha 2021
The Rajya Sabha or Council of States is the upper house among the two houses of Parliament of India. The number of membership of Rajya sabha in 2021 is 245. Among the 245 members 233 are elected by the legislatures of the states and union territories . The rest 12 members are elected by the President of India for their contributions to art, literature, science, and social services. Unlike the Lok Sabha, the Rajya Sabha which is the upper house of Parliament, will not subjected to dissolution, but it can be prorogued by the President.
The Vice President of India is the ex-officio Chairman of the Rajya Sabha. The Deputy Chairman will be elected from among the members of the Rajya Sabha.
