Emptiness. A word that carries innominate emotions, no one but the one who experiences would understand. It takes brave minds to stay optimistic during misfortune, not to make an excuse out of the situation but work harder to achieve what seems to be the best. Thomas belongs to this breed, who sprout to a huge fruit bearing plant out of his own feeding.
In the midst of the rank crowd, hurrying to run inside the auditorium, surprisingly with no cane in hand, no sad notes on face, Thomas came into sight on the day celebrating his winning tale. While sitting on the stone paved steps of the open auditorium, he recollected his cold days being abandoned at the very teen age by his own family. He didn’t have a lunch box to hold then and remembered one of his school teachers bringing him ‘pothichoru’ with fish and Omelette. After completing plus two, since he couldn’t cope living at his relative’s home, Rineesh, one of his friends, held his hand and welcomed Thomas to his family. There, Thomas could realise what love is, what bond is, what happiness is! While Rineesh made him feel the warmth of home, Shibin taught him to dream. Also Sajan and Prince were ready to give him whatever was needed.
But how can a visually impaired person dream without limits? Thomas’ thoughts went upside down like huge waves lashing the shore. He listened to music, played videos and audios on YouTube, and tried to enjoy the rhythm of rain. Then finally, he could find an answer: to work hard for a secured job. But again the question, how? He searched for classes, but failed to get a proper coaching with individual attention and finally ended up in the safest hands of Vini miss.
Thomas could calm his mind as he could realise that he chose the best Entri to achieve what he wished for. Entri provided him with a personal mentor, Vini, who sent all the classes directly, and asked him to inform her after studying the given section. He worked hard, did all the things perfectly and developed a rapport with her. Not only her, but also all the mentors voiced the important notes, enquired about studies, gave him much confidence and support each and everyday without fail. And the day came; the result of all the pain, struggle, ignorance and hardship.
Colour, confetti, cake, chocolates and bright faces everywhere on the 7th of August, as young great achievers of Kerala PSC gathered for the Rank Holders Meet-up. Amongst the hoorays and the cheers that echoed through the auditorium, away from the crowd, Thomas sat at a corner table with a sparkle in his eyes, quite content with his achievement. 1st rank in LGS, PH category is something really remarkable, right? This is phenomenal and he would be addressed as a man ‘with vision’. Sometimes the ‘home where we gather grace’ can be friends, teachers or even strangers and that is called life. Here at Entri, we aim to build the future by educating people in the right direction. We feel content to be a part in this journey of Thomas.
