World AIDS Day 2023 Importance
1: Who was the first woman President of India?
As you know, In 1988 World AIDS Day was established as the first international health day. The goal of this day is to inspire individuals to band together globally in order to close any gaps and inequities that limit HIV testing, prevention, and access to care. Every year, UN-affiliated organisations, governments, and civil society organisations join together to promote campaigns that focus on certain HIV-related topics.
AIDS Day is observed to demonstrate support for those who are HIV-positive and to remember those who have died from the disease. According to the health report of WHO, by the end of 2023, there were over 38.4 million HIV-positive individuals worldwide, 25.6 million of whom reside in the WHO African Region. Over 4,139 people in the UK receive an HIV diagnosis each year, and stigma and prejudice are still commonplace for many of those who live with the illness. So the day is crucial since it serves as a reminder to the general public and the government that the issue is a serious one that calls for quick action in the form of funding, education, eradication of prejudice, and better educational opportunities.
World AIDS Day 2023 History
World AIDS Day, designated on 1 December every year since 1988, is one of the eleven official global public health campaigns marked by the World Health Organization (WHO). Moreover, AIDS Awareness Week is observed in the last week of November, an extra effort made to raise AIDS awareness.

Mr. James Bunn and Thomas Netter took their idea to Dr. Jonathan Mann, Director of the Global Program on AIDS.
