The goal of NSA 2022 is to cover the major government of India initiatives through innovations in the related fields, hence solving societal issues at large.

National Startup Awards – Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility Criteria for Startups:

The startup must be one that has received DPIIT recognition. The organization must present either its partnership agreement or certificate of formation.

The entity must have a marketable piece of hardware, software, or a process solution.

The entity must hold the necessary registrations for its particular line of activity (eg: CE, FSSAI, MSME, GST registration, etc.).The unit, any of its promoters, or any organization in their group shouldn’t have defaulted in the previous three years (FY 2018-19, 19-20, 20-21).

If your startup is less than three years old, kindly upload any financial information that is accessible. This demand will not apply to startups that are younger than a year old and have not undergone a financial audit. Provisional statements produced by a Chartered Accountant may be furnished in the absence of the audited financials for the fiscal years 20-21.

Eligibility Criteria for Incubators:

• The incubator must be set up as a separate organization, such as a corporation, a public trust, or a society.
• As of 1 January 20202, the incubator must have been in use for at least two years.
• A minimum of 15 startups must have successfully graduated from the incubator.

Eligibility Criteria for Accelerators:

• The accelerator must be set up as a separate legal entity, such as a corporation, a public trust, or a society.
• On January 1st, 2022, the accelerator must have been in use for at least two years.
• A minimum of 10 startups must have successfully graduated from the accelerator.

Documents for Startups

1. Certificate of Incorporation/Partnership deed
2. The entity must submit its certificate of incorporation or partnership deed.
3. In case the startup is less than 3 years old, please upload all available financial statements.
4. Partnership deed or other government accepted proof as proof for a woman founder (if applicable)
5. PAN card for founder/ co-founder
6. Aadhaar card for founder/co-founder
7. Startup Pitch Deck (Not more than 10 slides)
8. Trade specific registrations
9. Audited financial statements for the past 3 years (P&L Statement + Balance Sheet + IT Return)
10. Proof – In the event that an application is made under a specific category (women-led company, campus startup, rural impact, import substitution potential, or COVID-19 innovation) (preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic, monitoring OR content delivery in Indic languages)
11. 120-second explainer video for your product or service (this video cannot be a YouTube link; it has to be for application to National Startup Awards). The business model, scalability, innovation, and social and economic effects on the environment should all be covered in the film.

Application Procedure for National Startup Awards 2022

1. Prior to receiving DPIIT recognition, the applicant first registers their business on startup India.
2. Make sure that the information provided on Startup India registration is accurate if you have already registered there and have a DPIIT number because some fields will auto-populate on the application form.
3. The next step is to go to the official National Startup Awards website.
4. A screen where you must click the “Apply Now” link is the home page.
5. A new page will then appear on your screen, where you must select “Apply as Startup.”
6. Your screen will now display the application page, where you must enter the information listed below:

• Sector
• Sub sector
• DPIIT recognition number
• Company name
• Brand name
• Website
• Applicant name
• E-mail ID
• Mobile number
• Address
• State
• City
• Founders name
• Founders email, etc.

7. Click the submit button to complete the application form’s submission after you have correctly filled out all the required fields.

Obtain DPIIT Recognition

• Open the startup India’s official webpage.
• The website’s home page will appear on the screen.
• Now select the DPIT Recognition option from the homepage.
• The screen will change to a new page.
• Read the information provided in depth.
• Then select “Click here for submitting your application for recognition as a Startup” from the menu.
• Onscreen, a login form will appear.
• Input your login information if you have previously registered.
• If you haven’t registered yet, click the register now button and do so right away.
• After that, input your login information to complete your login.

National Startup Awards – Rules

The National Startup Awards 2022 will abide to the following rules:

1. The National Startup Awards are voluntary to enter.
2. All prior National Startup Awards winners in any category, including incubators and accelerators, are ineligible this year.
3. The application for the award must only be completed in English.
4. A startup may submit nominations for up to two categories.
5. Finalists could be the focus of independent third-party assessors’ legal due diligence examination. Startup India retains the right to choose the next highest-scoring nominee as the prize winner if the person or organization declines such a request.
6. By entering the National Startup Awards, startups, nominees, and ecosystem facilitators consent to the use of their names, websites, photos, and videos in promotional materials for the Government of India and their partners.
7. Any entity that submits incorrect information regarding its name, mailing address, phone number, email address, ownership of a right, or non-compliance with these rules or any other terms and conditions may have their participation in the National Startup Awards process terminated immediately.
8. The jury’s and the implementation committee’s judgments will be final and conclusive. If no qualifying institution is found, the jury may decide not to give the award in any sector or sub-sector.
9. A non-disclosure agreement with Startup India will be physically or digitally signed by all support organizations and the jury.
10. The DPIIT maintains the right to refuse to award any firm in any industry or subindustry and to cancel, terminate, alter, or suspend the National Startup Awards at any time. In addition, DPIIT has the right to disqualify any applicant or business that tampers with the submission process, commits fraud, or violates any applicable criminal, civil, or regulatory laws.
11. No institution may receive travel or presentation expenses for a jury presentation.
